San Francisco Bay Area Live Music Recommendations

Recommendations for Venues in the Bay Area:

San Francisco

The Fillmore (box office Sunday 10 am – 2 pm & 30 mins before doors until 9 pm on show nights), The Warfield, The Independent (box office 1 hour before doors til showtime), The Great American Music Hall, Brick & Mortar, August Hall, The Chapel (box office an hour before doors on show nights), Bottom of the Hill, Cafe du Nord / The Swedish American Hall (no box office), The Lost Church, Bimbo’s, The Masonic, Neck of the Woods, The Rickshaw Stop (box office Wed, 1pm – 3pm), The Regency Ballroom, the Hotel Utah.

East Bay

The New Parish, The Fox Theatre, Freight & Salvage, The Ivy Room, The Greek Theatre, Cornerstone, The Back Room. It was also suggested that I include Almost Famous and The Bankhead in Livermore. I haven’t been and wasn’t familiar, but look to change that in the future.

North Bay

HopMonk Novato, the Mystic Theatre. I want to say the Sweetwater but it’s hard to recommend though the last time I was there I had a great experience. Previously, there was almost always a crowd there that is not there to see the music and they like to talk over the music. If the band is loud enough, it can work out. For quieter bands, it can be a moderately unpleasant experience.

South Bay / Peninsula

Moe’s Alley, Catalyst, The Crepe Place. The Guild. The Rio

Here’s what’s coming up in the San Francisco Bay Area:

You should always check venue websites before the show to avoid unpleasant surprises (i.e., cancellations). One time my parents drove to a place that was ~45 minutes away only to find out that the show had been cancelled. They weren’t happy! It was preventable.

December 2025

12/19/25 – 12/21/25 – The Mother Hips at GAMH. 12/20, Elliot Peck is playing and 12/21, AJ Lee is playing.

12/20/25 – Crying Uncle (electric) at the Hopmonk in Novato

12/26/25 — Chuck Prophet and His Cumbia Shoes at the Chapel. Yes, please

12/27/25 – Chuck Prophet and the Mission Express at the Chapel. I love Chuck Prophet and think I might try to go to both of these shows, but I’ll be honest the last time I saw him with His Cumbia Shoes (at the Chapel) was FUCKING amazing and I wanna see THAT show again!

12/30/25 – 12/31/25 – Paul Cauthen at The Independent. I like this guy (Rod used to like to remind me that I liked him in the early days). I don’t always like the crowd at his SF shows. I suspect these will sell out, although it’s a pricey ticket for the Independent. Also fun fact: I just recently realized that Paul Cauthen was a part of the duo Sons of Fathers (from back in the day circa 2014), so Rod was right… I did like that guy.

12/31/25 – The Brothers Comatose are playing in Grass Valley again! Who’s going?

12/31/25 – Fantastic Negrito at The Chapel. This is sure to be a good time.

January 2026

1/3/26 – Larry & Joe at Hopmonk Novato. This is a matinee show. These guys are great!

1/6/26 – Madison Cunningham at Bimbo’s.

1/8/26 – The Rainbow Girls at the Freight. They really do have the tastiest of harmonies. I always enjoy these gals.

1/10/26 – Western Standard Time Ska Orchestra at the Chapel

1/18/26 – Briscoe at Cafe du Nord. I saw this band at SXSW the last time I went and I really liked them. I’m

1/21/26 – Jacob Banks at The Fillmore. This man’s voice….

1/21/26 – William Elliott Whitmore at Bottom of the Hill. THIS is TOTALLY my jam! Venue and performer. I’m in!

1/25/26 – AJ Lee & Blue Summit at the Hopmonk Sebastopol

1/27/26 – Say She She at August Hall. They are a little pop-y for me, but I did enjoy them at HSB in 2023.

1/29/26 – Pokey LaFarge at the Freight. It’s been a minute and I would not mind seeing this guy again. He’s fun and talented.

February 2026

2/2/26 – Ruston Kelly at The Independent

2/3/26 – 2/4/26 – Rickie Lee Jones at Bimbo’s.

2/5/26 – The Rural Alberta Advantage at Rickshaw Stop. I do really love this band and I love to support our neighbors from the north.

2/5/26 – Hayes Carll at GAMH. Why do you all torture me this way? I love Hayes Carll. I love RAA. I can only go to one of these shows unless someone masters cloning before 2/5/26.

2/6/26 – Steve Poltz at the Sweetwater. As I’ve said before, you never see the same show twice.

2/11/26 – The Sadies at GAMH. This is the first time that I remember seeing them on tour since Dallas Good died.

2/13/26 – Dom Flemings at The Freight. Dom is formerly of the Carolina Chocolate Drops and he’s something else. I recommend.

2/17/26 – Suzanne Vega at Bimbo’s.

2/18/26 – Sudan Archives at The Regency Ballroom

March 2026

3/5/26 – Carsie Blanton at The Chapel. I think we all know how I love her. This show was originally scheduled for 10/16/25, but was rescheduled.

3/6/25 – Indigo De Souza at the Fillmore. The last time she toured, she played the Independent, I think. I couldn’t go for some reason. I’d like to see her; she’s been recommended.

3/7/25 – Miss Margo Price at the Fillmore. I LOVE Margo Price. I’m sure this will sell out.

3/7/26 – Women of Americana at The Freight. Brennen Leigh is a part of this and I do really like her.

3/7/26 – The Strumbellas at August Hall. I did really enjoy this band and their anthemic songs at SXSW. (I’ve got) spirits in my head and they won’t go (which is how I often feel about this song)….

3/13/26 – Peter Rowan at The Freight.

3/20/26 – The Sam Chase & The Untraditional at The Chapel

3/22/26 – The Nude Party at the Independent. I think these guys are a lot of fun.

3/22/26 – Mouths of Babes at the Freight. This duo is fantastic live, but be prepared for all the feelings. ALL of them!

3/22/26 – Goodnight, Texas at the Chapel. It’s another one of those nights when you really have to make some difficult choices (or go with your first purchase if you were impulsive!).

3/29/26 – Tophouse at the Independent. This band is a lot of fun; they played the Banjo Stage at HSB this year. I had also seen (and enjoyed) them at RWR this past summer. They have excellent transitions. 🙂

April 2026

4/1/26 – St. Paul & The Broken Bones at the Warfield

4/3/26 & 4/4/26 – AJ Lee and Blue Summit at The Chapel. You know this will be a good time because AJ Lee gets better EVERY. TIME. I. SEE. HER.!!!

4/9/26 – 4/10/26 – Dar Williams at the Freight.

4/22/26 – Langhorne Slim at the Independent. I LOVE Langhorne Slim. Always!

4/23/26 – Jaimee Harris at the Hopmonk Novato. Duh!

May 2026

5/8/26 – Wesley Stace at the Hopmonk Novato. I love Wesley Stace!

Past Shows:

11/11/22 — Sammy Rae & Friends at The Regency. I saw them at RWR this year. They’re fun!

11/11/22 & 11/12/22 (postponed until 6/23/23 & 6/24/23) — Bettye LaVette at the Freight. I’m definitely interested in this too, but also it sold out while I was busy not committing. She was fantastic when I saw her at The Chapel and I regret not getting tickets. It’d almost be worth going to see if there were any tickets released or people selling extra tickets if it weren’t for the time invested in getting to / from Berkeley from home.

11/13/22 — Tim Bluhm and The Coffis Brothers at GAMH. I’m definitely interested in this; I’d say I’m a solid maybe. It should be a good show.

11/15/22 — Jake Blount at The Freight.  I saw him at RWR and really liked him. I’d like to see him at the Freight; that seems like a great venue for him! He was also great at HSB this year and I quite enjoyed him and his band and his band members’ cute pastel onesies.

11/15/22 — Foals at the Fox Theatre. I saw them at the Canadian festival (Way Home) and I remember liking them. I also like what I hear of them on XPN.

11/15/22 – 11/16/22 — Beabadoobee at The Regency. I hear her on XPN and I like her.

11/16/22 — Tegan and Sara at the Fillmore. I’d really like to see them.  Sometimes I’m surprised I haven’t. It looks like I won’t be this time either as the show is sold out. Sad face!

11/17/22 — Carsie Blanton at the HopMonk. I can’t recommend her enough. I really can’t. If I had a car and there weren’t so many other interesting shows in the Bay Area on Thursday night, I’d definitely be going to this. She’s fun!

11/17/22 — Lucy Dacus with Holly Heynderickx opening at the Fox in Oakland. Interested!

11/17/22 — Blu DeTiger at August Hall. Also, interested though I really only know one song and there’s a lot of competition here on the 17th!

11/17/22 — Caroline Spence opening for Madi Diaz at The Chapel.  I enjoyed Caroline Spence when I saw her at RWR and I liked her with her full band when I saw her in Nashville during Americanafest.

11/17/22 — Lilli Lewis and the Secret Emchy Society are performing at the Lost Church. I saw Lilli in Nashville this year and I always enjoy seeing the Secret Emchy Society.

11/18/22 — Carsie Blanton at the Freight. Again, I really can’t recommend her enough. She’s fun and feisty and very talented!

11/18/22 — Avi Vinocur is opening for The Stone Foxes at GAMH. And I guess so is Midnight North. This is a great double / triple bill!

11/18/22 — Matt Jaffe at Amado’s.

11/19/22 — John Craigie at the Fillmore. Tickets purchased!

11/19/22 — Lucius and Aaron Lee Tasjin are performing at a Bread and Roses benefit concert at the St. Joseph’s Arts Society. I’d be interested if I weren’t already going to see John Craigie at the Fillmore!

11/19/22 — Chuck Prophet and the Mission Express at the Chapel. I always love Chuck, but I think John Craigie wins on this one.

11/28/22 — Kristin Hersh at BotH. She’s always a yes as far as I’m concerned.

11/30/22 — Lucius at the Fillmore.  They were SO good at HSB.  I’ve seen them a bunch, but they were SO good at HSB which is probably why this show is already sold out. I’m looking for a ticket if anyone knows of one.

11/30/22 — Modest Mouse at The Fox Theater. This is sold out!

11/30/22 & 12/1/22 — Built To Spill at The Chapel. The December 1st show is sold out! And now both of these shows are sold out!

12/1/22 — The Watkins Family Hour with Margaret Glaspy opening at GAMH. I could be convinced, probably pretty easily. I have a huge crush on Sara Watkins!

12/2/22 — The White Buffalo at The Fillmore.

12/2/22 — The Watkins Family Hour at The Guild. With Glen Phillips. It feels too far, but I want to do this because I forgot to go last night. Yes, I forgot….

12/3/23 — Wild Child at The Independent. Highly interested!

12/5/22 & 12/6/22 — The New Pornographers at The Fillmore.

12/8/22 — Dead Horses at Hotel Utah. I think this should happen! I’ve seen many iterations of this band, but I think the drum (with the triangle) that I recently saw in Nashville may have been my favorite. Hard to say because I always love them.

12/8/22 — Sunny Sweeney w/ Brennen Leigh at the Sweetwater. I saw both of these women perform separately at the WMOT Day Stage at AmericanaFest this year and I really liked both of them. I would recommend this show. That said, since Dead Horses is happening *in* SF and I really like them (they make me feel all the feels), it’s doubtful I will be at this show. Sidenote: Brennen Leigh was performing with Asleep at the Wheel when I saw her.

12/10/22 — Little Feat at The Rio. This is happening! Thanks Deb!

12/11/22 — Dustbowl Revival at The Chapel. They aren’t the same without Liz, but I always enjoy an evening with Ulf.

12/12/22 & 12/13/22 — X at GAMH. I am definitely interested.

12/13/22 — Courtney Marie Andrews at the Independent.

12/14/22 — The Mavericks w/ JD McPherson opening at Luther Burbank Center. I’m sad they aren’t playing in SF.

12/15/22 — Fishbone at GAMH

12/15/22 — G Love at the Hopmonk Novato (KC Turner Presents).

12/16/22 — Ruthie Foster at the Freight.  It’s been a long time since I’ve seen her and this seems like a great venue!

12/16/22 — The Sam Chase & The Untraditional at Amado’s.

12/16/22 – 12/18/22 — The Mother Hips at GAMH. The final show is a matinee.

12/17/22 – AJ Lee and Blue Summit at the Independent.  Openers will be Willy Tea Taylor and Terrier (Ben Morrison and Erika Tietjen).  This should definitely be a good time and obviously I will be there!

12/31/22 — Social Distortion at The Fillmore

1/7/23 (cancelled) — Cosmic Twang featuring Nicki Bluhm at GAMH. It’s been a minute since I’ve seen Nicki Bluhm. I don’t know anything about Cosmic Twang so I may need to do a little ‘research’. Or maybe not, as it’s been cancelled.

1/19/23 — Trampled by Turtles at the Fillmore. It’s been a LONG time since I’ve seen TbT.

1/20/23 — The Watson Twins are opening for Jessie Baylin at Cafe du Nord. This is a hard yes, IMO. I saw them together in Nashville and they were great! Also I *might* have a huge crush on The Watson Twins. Andee can tell you how excited I got when they were suddenly on stage with Jessie Baylin at the Analog

1/21/23 — Melissa Carper at Amado’s. I missed her at AmericanaFest but it sounds like I shouldn’t have and I should try to rectify this.

1/22/23 — Okkervil River at the Independent

1/25/23 — Fitz & the Tantrums at the Regency

1/25/23 — Shawn Colvin, Marc Cohn and Sarah Jarosz at the Palace of Fine Arts

1/26/23 — Wallis Bird at the Freight. This show is recommended by one of my Irish friends though I have to admit my interest was already piqued because the Freight classified her as ‘genre-bending’ which is also how they classified Ruthie Foster and I LOVE Ruthie Foster. So, it looks like I’ll be heading to the Freight on Thursday night!

1/27/23 & 1/28/23 — Yonder Mountain String Band at the Freight.  Interesting choice of venues IMO. I understand they will be removing the seats and it will be an open dance floor which makes it more appealing.

1/28/23 (cancelled) — Wheels Off! (SF Sketchfest) at the Swedish American Hall. I already have tickets to this from when it was postponed in 2022. And the ticket was recently refunded to me with an email saying that the show had been cancelled.

1/28/23 — Edie Carey & Megan Burtt at a SF house concert (KC Turner Presents for tickets / location)

2/1/23 — Quinn Christopherson at Cafe du Nord. I saw them years ago, opening for Lucy Dacus and I remember liking them. I also think they were a NPR Tiny Desk winner.

2/3/23 — The Wood Brothers at the Fox Theatre. I want to go to this show because it’s The Wood Brothers. I don’t want to go to this show because it’s entirely seated and it’s in Oakland. Blech!

2/4/23 — I just noticed this show and it’s unfortunately sold out, but the opening band, Oliver Hazard, was one of my ‘finds’ at Americanafest 2018. I would totally have gone to this for that reason alone and now I’m wondering about The 502S since this show is sold out….

2/8/23 — Matt Andersen at the Hopmonk in Novato. This is also a KC Turner Presents show.

2/9/23 — Recommended by a friend, Jeffrey Martin with Taylor Kingman opening at Cafe du Nord.

2/9/23 — Max Gomez at the Sweetwater. Why only the Sweetwater, Max? Why?

2/9/23 — Larkin Poe at the Fillmore. I haven’t seen them since SXSW 2018 and I’m definitely interested in seeing them again.

2/10/23 — Margo Price at the Fillmore. Hell yeah!

2/11/23 — The Lone Bellow at the Fillmore. This was one of the first shows that I ‘missed’ during the long pause. I think I still have my ticket somewhere….

2/14/23 — Sean Hayes at The Independent. This seems like a good thing to do for Valentine’s Day IMO.

2/14/23 — Chuck Prophet and the Make Out Quartet at the Swedish American Hall.

2/16/23 — Molsky’s Mountain Drifters at the Freight. I don’t remember where I saw them, but I think I remember liking them.

2/17/23 — Kitchen Dwellers w/ special guest Lindsay Lou at The Independent. Sounds fun!

2/17/23 — Black Opry Revue at the Freight. Definitely on my list one of these days, but not sure about *this* day.

2/17/23 — The Detroit Cobras at BotH featuring Marcus Durant (formerly of Zen Guerrilla).

2/18/23 — Megan Slankard & The Wreckage at the Hopmonk Novato (KC Turner Presents)

2/18/23 — Hawktail at the Freight

2/18/23 — Con Brio at The Independent

2/19/23 — Hawktail at the Hopmonk Novato (KC Turner Presents). Crying Uncle is opening. They (Crying Uncle) are local and are wonderful. I’ve seen them several times; most recently I saw them join The Watkins Family on stage

2/20/23 — FIDLAR at BotH. I am so tempted to do this though I’d honestly be surprised if there are still tickets available, even at $40. This *is* sold out.

2/23/23 — Jaimee Harris at a private KC Turner Presents house concert. Interested!

2/22/23 & 2/24/23 — Yo La Tango at The Fillmore

2/25/23 and 2/26/23 — Ramblin’ Jack Elliot at the Hopmonk Novato (KC Turner Presents). He’s a legend; I’d like to see him. The 25th is sold out!

3/2/23 — David Jacobs-Strain (and Bob Beach) is (are) opening for Jeffrey Foucault at the Hopmonk Novato (KC Turner Presents). It’s been YEARS since I saw David, but I really liked him. I can’t even remember who he opened for that night at GAMH. It might have been Todd Snider.

3/2/23 — Desiree Cannon is opening for The Deslondes at Cafe du Nord. I don’t actually know either, but I have friends who talk up Desiree Cannon quite a bit.

3/3/23 — The Sadies at the Chapel. I saw them at the Chapel in the before times when Dallas Good was still with us. I’m having a hard time imagining The Sadies without Dallas, but I’d be willing to give it a try and throw some support their way.

3/4/23 & 3/5/23 — Ladysmith Black Mambazo at the Freight

3/5/23 — Regina Spektor at The Warfield.

3/5/23 — SG Goodman at Cafe du Nord. I really want to love SG Goodman. I don’t love her.

3/5/23 — Charlie Parr at the Chapel.

3/9/23 & 3/10/23 — Vance Joy at the Fox in Oakland.

3/10/23 — Alejandro Escovedo at the Hopmonk Novato (KC Turner Presents). If I’m in town, I want to be here. Alejandro was someone that I thought I didn’t like (I don’t know why) and then I saw him in Nashville in 2018 and boy did I realize how wrong I was…. I didn’t like him; I LOVED him. Now, I want to see him ALL THE TIME!!!!

3/14/23 — Heather Maloney at the Back Room in Berkeley

3/15/23 — G Love & Special Sauce at GAMH

3/17/23 & 3/18/23 — The Brothers Comatose at GAMH. Now I’m trying to figure out how to be back in town in time for these shows…. It’s so difficult to be me. 😉 Clearly I highly recommend these shows. I expect that they will sell out.

3/18/23 — The Beths at the Fillmore. I’d really like to see them again, but I think I may not be in town for this.

3/21/23 — Morgan Wade at the Fillmore. I haven’t seen her, but she has been highly recommended to me.

3/21/23 — Robyn Hitchcock w/ Kelley Stoltz opening at The Chapel.

3/22/23 — Sway Wild (Mandy Fer) is opening for Bailen at Cafe du Nord. I love Mandy Fer!

3/23/23 — Delta Rae at The Independent. I could definitely see this happening.

3/23/23 — Lee Fields at the Chapel.

3/23/23 & 3/24/23 — alt-J at the Fox

3/26/23 — Matt the Electrician at the Hopmonk Novato (KC Turner Presents).

3/28/23 — The War & Treaty at The Independent. Yes! Yes! Yes!

3/29/23 — Sarah Shook & The Disarmers at BotH. I really do enjoy Sarah Shook and this is a great venue!

3/29/23 — Rayland Baxter @ GAMH. Rayland Baxter doesn’t really do it for me. I like what I hear on the radio, but he was too loud when I saw him in the past and there’s just something that’s lacking when I see him live. If I’m going to go to a show on the 29th, it won’t be this one, but my taste is not everyone’s.

3/29/23 & 3/30/23 — The Tallest Man on Earth at the Chapel. I can say ‘not my jam’; I found him boring, but I know that’s not popular consensus.

3/30/23 — Big Richard at the Hopmonk Novato (KC Turner Presents). I’ve been told that I need to go to this show, so I *need* a ride!!!

3/30/23 — Lucy Kaplansky at the Freight. I don’t think I’m going to be able to make this show, but if I don’t get a ride to Big Richard….

3/30/23 & 3/31/23 — Low at The Chapel (This was originally listed in October 2022). March 31st is sold out. This is still listed on The Chapel’s website. I’m assuming the show will be canceled with the death of Mimi Parker.

3/30/23 & 3/31/23 — Built to Spill at Cornerstone

3/30/23 — Husbands at Cafe du Nord

3/31/23 — Old 97’s at The Fillmore. Oh yes, please!

3/31/23 — Mary Gauthier with special guest Jaimee Harris at the Freight. I would totally go to this if I weren’t already committed to Rhett and the Fillmore.

3/31/23 — Lucy Kaplansky at the Hopmonk Novato (KC Turner Presents). This is another Lucy Kaplansky show that I won’t be attending, even though I really want to see her live.

4/2/23 — Michigander at Cornerstone. I saw them at SX, but the circumstances were not prime for creating a memory. I like what I hear on video so I might try to go to this, but it will be the end of a busy weekend and it’s a Sunday night in Berkeley so we’ll see….

4/6/23 — Joe Pug at The Sweetwater. I could definitely be interested if I could catch a ride.

4/7/23 — Garrison Starr at The Lost Church. This is a must IMO. She’ll be performing with Mya Byrne. I discovered both of them during Americanafest this past year (at the same venue on different days) and enjoyed both of them. I’ve been lucky enough to see Mya Byrne as they are local to the SF Bay area, but I missed Garrison when she made her way through late last year. I can’t wait for this show!

4/8/23 — An Evening with the Mother Hips at The Chapel.

4/9/23 — Lucero at the Fillmore. Duh….

4/11/23 — The Brother Brothers at the Sweetwater. I’m not sure that I would go to this show at the Sweetwater due to the talkiness of the audience and the quietness of the music, but otherwise I would recommend this show.

4/12/23 — The Brother Brothers at Felton Music Hall.

4/12/23 — Matthew Logan Vasquez at BotH

4/13/23 — Rising Appalachia at the Swedish American Hall (though this is listed on The Chapel’s site). I would definitely see them again.

4/14/23 — Box Set at The Freight. This was recommended to me and I have friends who LOVE Box Set. I’ve never seen them and it seems like it might be time to rectify this.

4/14/23 — Rising Appalachia at the Chapel. This is an outside show and it’s sold out.

4/14/23 — The Arhoolie Awards and Benefit Show with Dave Alvin at The Chapel.

4/15/23 — They Might Be Giants at the Fillmore

4/15/23 — AJ Lee and Blue Summit at the Sweetwater

4/15/12 — Box Set at Rancho Nicasio

4/16/23 — They Might Be Giants at the Fox

4/16/23 — Box Set is playing at the San Gregorio General Store from 2 – 5. Can you tell from my listings that I’m a new fan and want to see them again?

4/16/23 — Trace Bundy at The Freight. I’ve never seen Trace, but he was recommended to me years ago by like-minded music friends.

4/16/23 — Andres Miguel Cervantes at Thee Parkside. This afternoon show was recommended by a friend. I love Thee Parkside and haven’t been there since the before times, so I might try to make it to this (if I don’t find a ride to San Gregorio….)

4/19/23 — Dustbowl Revival w/ Don Flemons at the Freight. This has all of the markings of a great show. Don Flemons was in the Carolina Chocolate Drops and I’ve seen him at RWR and enjoyed him.

4/20/23 — Slaid Cleaves at the Back Room in Berkeley. Is it wrong to say duh here? He’s a legend in Texas. And I guess I wasn’t wrong because this is sold out.

4/22/23 — Ron Pope at The Chapel. I’m very likely to go to this show. Ron Pope is a nice, talented guy. Sadly, I won’t be in town for this.

4/25/23 — The Nude Party at The Independent. I remember liking them when I saw them at SXSW in 2019 and wanting to see them again. I would definitely consider this.

4/25/23 — Nikki Lane at The Chapel. I’m sure this will be an excellent show!

4/26/23 — Dawes at The Fillmore

4/27/23 — Tyler Childers with special guest Charley Crockett at the Greek Theater. I might break my own rule about not going to certain shows in the Bay Area for this double bill / venue.

4/27/23 — Iris DeMent at the Freight.

4/28/23 — Joseph at the Fillmore

5/2/23 — Sierra Ferrell at The Fillmore. This is a show I would go to, but I’m not sure if I’ll be in town AND I think it will sell out, so I guess we will see.

5/3/23 — Caroline Rose at The Fillmore. This is definitely a show I would go to. Same concerns as with Sierra Farrell.

5/7/23 — Ryan Montbleau at The Sweetwater.

5/9/23 — Hayley Heynderickx at the Chapel

5/9/23 — John Craigie is playing a private house concert. I won’t be here and it’s already sold out so I’m not sure why I’m listing this. KC Turner Presents…..

5/10/23 — Ryan Montbleau at Moe’s Alley. No SF dates or I would go.

5/10/23 & 5/11/23 — John Craigie performs The Beatles ‘Revolver’ at the Sweetwater

5/11/23 — Ruston Kelly at the Fillmore

5/12/23 — Graham Parker at the Hopmonk

5/12/23 – 5/14/23 — Fruit Bats at the Chapel

5/14/23 — Cake is playing at the Mill Valley Music Festival. I’m sad to not be here for this.

5/15/23 — First Aid Kit with Hurray for the Riff Raff opening at the Fox Theater

5/15/23 — Hayley Kiyoko at the Fillmore

5/19/23 — The Brothers Comatose at Moe’s Alley. Yup, this is happening!

5/20/23 — Anna Moss and the Nightshades with Aviva le Fey opening at the Hopmonk Novato. This is so my jam! I’m sure you’ll see me here! This is a KC Turner Presents show.

5/24/23 — Willy Tea Taylor at BotH. Yes, please!

5/26/23 — Danielle Ponder at Cafe du Nord. I just listened to a World Cafe (I think) featuring her and I liked what I heard. This show has been sold out for quite a while.

5/26/23 — Sunny War at BotH. I really like Sunny War. I have seen her quite a few times now, including at SX.

5/26/23 — Tropa Magica at The Chapel. I will be at Cafe du Nord, but I recommend this band. They are fun!

5/27/23 — Caleb Caudle at the Sweetwater

6/1/23 — Avi Vinocur is performing at Hotel Utah at a Songwriters in the Round event

6/3/23 — Grant-Lee Phillips at the Hopmonk in Novato. This is a KC Turner Presents show. I really like Grant-Lee, but I also REALLY like The Secret Sisters and Berkeley is easier than Novato for those without wheels.

6/3/23 — The Secret Sisters at The Freight. Yes. This is one of those shows that I had tickets for and then the pandemic / shutdown and they rescheduled but then they cancelled again, so YES!

6/5/23 — Ondara at The Independent. This is a must IMO. Really, I don’t think you’ll regret it. Formerly appearing under the name J.S. Ondara, the last time he played The Independent (in the before times), it was a sold out show (I think).

6/9/23 — T Sisters at The Freight. Yes! It’s been a long time since I’ve see the T Sisters perform.

6/9/23 & 6/10/23 — Ozomatli at The Chapel. I’m certain these will be fun shows; Ozomatli is always a good time IMO

6/10/23 & 6/11/23 — Zoe Keating at The Freight.

6/10/23 — Royal Jelly Jive at The Independent.

6/11/23 — Murder by Death with Laura Jane Grace opening at GAMH. I’m interested in both of these acts.

6/11/23 — EELS at the UC Theatre. I’ve still never seen EELS

6/13/23 — KT Tunstall at GAMH. This seems like a strong possibility.

6/13/23 — Joshua Ray Walker at Brick & Mortar. I hate competition for the same night; I liked Joshua Ray Walker, but KT Tunstall will be a bit more rockin

6/15/23 — Twisted Pine at the Back Room. I saw them at RWR in 2022 and I remember that I liked them; I think they were based in Utah. I’ll probably try to catch this show.

6/16/23 — Parker Millsap and his Band at the Chapel. Yes! Yes! Yes! It’s been too long!

6/16/23 — Off With Their Heads at BotH. Someone recommended this band to me in the past; don’t know who and this will be another time that I don’t check them out. 😦

6/17/23 — Southern Culture on the Skids at BotH with Van Goat opening.

6/17/23 — Maurice Tani at The Freight. I still have never seen him. Maybe this time?

6/18/23 — Secret Emchy Society at BotH

6/18/23 — Paul Thorn Band at Rancho Nicasio. If I haven’t left yet for my East Coast adventure, I’ll want to be here.

6/22/23 — Paul Thorn at the Freight. I’m sad that I won’t be here for this.

6/23/23 — The Sam Chase and the Untraditional co-headlining with Megan Slankard and The Wreckage at BotH.

6/23/23 & 6/24/23 (postponed from 11/11/22 & 11/12/22) — Bettye LaVette at the Freight. I’m definitely interested in this. It was sold out in November and I didn’t have tickets because I was slow to purchase. I think I wasn’t sure about travel plans which is, again, the case. I guess we’ll see.

6/24/23 & 6/25/23 — Cracker at the Hopmonk Novato

6/28/23 — Jesse Malin at BotH. I saw him open for Chuck Prophet in the BeforeTimes and as I remember, I liked him…. enough to note his name as the opener in my concert list. I just saw a Instagram post that Jesse Malin had a stroke and I see that there is no tour. I googled this and he’s paralyzed from this rare spinal cord stroke that he had. I think there is a gofundme for him, but I couldn’t find it.

6/29/23 — The Travelin’ McCourys at the Hopmonk in Novato.

6/29/23 — Dumpstaphunk at The Independent

7/1/23 — The Family Crest (from San Francisco) at GAMH

7/6/23 — Matt Jaffe at BotH

7/7/23 — Toad the Wet Sprocket at the Hopmonk in Novato. This is sold out, but they are coming back around for a second night later in the month. KC Turner Presents

7/8/23 & 7/9/23 — Jackie Greene at Rancho Nicasio

7/8/23 — The Mother Hips at the Hopmonk in Novato. There is both a matinee and an evening show.

7/9/23 — Ramblin’ Jack Elliot with special surprise guest at the Hopmonk in Novato.

7/15/23 — Haley Blais at Brick & Mortar. We saw this band at SXSW at Canada House.

7/15/23 — Late for the Train at the Back Room in Berkeley

7/16/23 — Steve Poltz at the Hopmonk in Novato. This will be a good time! This is a KC Turner Presents event.

7/16/23 — The Steel Wheels at the Sweetwater. This makes me sad because of above and because I didn’t see their set at RWR this year.

7/18/23 & 7/19/23 — Cowboy Junkies at the Freight. Rod would definitely have been at these shows.

7/19/23 — Toad the Wet Sprocket at the Hopmonk in Novato.

7/20/23 — Shinyribs at the Hopmonk in Novato. This is a hard yes! They are the shiniest and I love them!

7/22/23 & 7/23/23 — Asleep at the Wheel at Rancho Nicasio. If you know me, you may have heard that I thought I didn’t like this band. I was wrong and had them confused with a different band.

7/22/23 — Matthew Logan Vasquez opening for Heartless Bastards at GAMH

7/23/23 — James McMurtry at the Hopmonk in Novato. This is SOLD OUT and everyone is looking for tickets!

7/26/23 — Tori Amos at the Masonic. When I just looked at tickets, balcony seats were more than $250. Love LiveNation’s dynamic pricing. Not!

7/26/23 — Liz Cooper opening for Rayland Baxter at GAMH. Not for me, but others feel differently.

7/27/23 — Willie Watson at The Chapel

7/28/23 — Michigan Rattlers at Cornerstone

7/29/23 — Petaluma Music Festival which is featuring a lot of bands we love including The Brothers Comatose and Dear Darling

7/29/23 — Little Feat at The Warfield. I am considering this show since I missed them in Santa Cruz last year.

8/4/23 — Blondshell at Cafe du Nord. She was all the rage at SXSW2023, so I’d be surprised if this show didn’t sell out. Her voice / style reminded me of Dolores O’Riordan.

8/4/23 — Black Opry Revue at the Freight. Lisa Sanders will be a part of this. I would be here if I weren’t already going to be at Cafe du Nord.

8/5/23 — Lisa Sanders & Brown Sugar at a house concert in the East Bay. Ticket Info: to secure your spot, please send $30 via PayPal to https://paypal.me/FoxDenPiedmont (Remember to state “friends and family Sanders” to avoid fees–this requires two steps in PayPal and do not select “Goods and Services”. ALL proceeds go to the performing artists!) If I were going to be in town, I would definitely be at this show!

8/8/23 — Big Thief and Lucinda Williams at the Greek

8/9/23 — Sunny Sweeney at The Sweetwater. I’d like to see her again, but I don’t think this date or location works for me; I saw her in Nashville in 2022.

8/18/23 & 8/19/23 — Fleet Foxes and My Morning Jacket at the Greek. Those that know me know that this isn’t really my jam, but it is my jam adjacent so I mention it.

8/19/23 — AJ Lee & Blue Summit with Crying Uncle Bluegrass Band at KC Turner’s Cookout Concert series at the Hopmonk in Novato. This is sure to be an excellent show, but I will be busy at ….

8/19/23 — Sean Hayes at the Chapel with Terrier opening. This probably just beat out the above because I can’t resist this combination.

8/20/23 — Brett Dennen at KC Turner’s Cookout Concert series at the Hopmonk in Novato. This is sold out and I did not get a ticket.

8/23/23 — Gregory Alan Isakov with Shovels & Rope at the Masonic.

8/25/23 & 8/26/23 — Boz Scaggs at The Fillmore. I would be at the 8/26 show if it weren’t for the next line….

8/26/23 — Joy Clark at a private sold out house concert. I will be sad not to see Glen and Marketa, but I will not be sad to not go to the Masonic and I will *not* be sad to see Joy Clark while sitting in my friend’s living room in San Francisco. Join me; you won’t be sad either… This is another KC Turner Presents show.

8/26/23 — Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova at the Masonic

8/26/23 — Sean Hayes at the Chapel

8/26/23 — Due South show in MacLaren Park with Cherry Glazerr

8/26/23 & 8/27/23 — Mt Joy at the Fox.

8/30/23 — Sylvan Esso at the Greek

8/31/23 — The Heavy Heavy opening for The Revivalists and Band of Horses at the Greek.

8/31/23 — Jess Williamson at the Chapel. She has a song with the singer of Waxahatchee that I really like.

9/2/23 — Flogging Molly at the Warfield

9/2/23 — Front Porch Festival in Livermore (Wente) with Megan Slankard, The Coffis Brothers AND The Brothers Comatose. Sounds like a good time!

9/10/23 — Vintage Trouble at the Independent. This band has always been a good time. I haven’t seen them in years, but they were opening for the Rolling Stones prior to the shutdown.

9/15/23 — Shawn Mullins at the Hopmonk in Novato. (KC Turner Presents / Cookout Concert). I’m struggling with this. I really want to go, but I have a friend in town and plans are up in the air and I need to coordinate a ride and and and and, but I love Shawn Mullins and I really liked the opener, David Jacobs-Strain, when I saw him years ago at GAMH opening for someone (maybe Todd Snider).

9/15/23 — Macy Blackman (who is my piano tuner) & the Mighty Fines at the Back Room in Berkeley.

9/15/23 — Bombargo at The Mustache Bash at The Phoenix Hotel. As far as I can tell, the only admission is a 2-day (September 15th and 16th) ticket for $69. I can’t say anything about Mustache Bash, but 70’s party time disco, poolside sounds like it could be a lot of fun. I will say that Bombargo won the Mies at BMF 2023 (more about that hopefully soon).

9/16/23 — Box Set at KC Turner’s Cookout Concert series at the Hopmonk in Novato. I think this may be sold out and I missed my chance but I didn’t because someone is a lucky lucky girl and got invited to her friend’s birthday party which just so happens to be a table at Box Set!!!

9/16/23 — James Bay at the Fox in Oakland. I no longer remember when I saw him as an opener, but I liked him. It was early in my 52 in 52 quest.

9/16/23 — Due South show in MacLaren Park with Y La Bamba

9/17/23 — Eric Long is playing an afternoon (3:00 doors / 3:30 music) show in Piedmont (address provided following ticket purchase. This is a house concert. To secure your spot, please send $30 via PayPal to https://paypal.me/FoxDenPiedmont (Remember to state “friends and family Long” to avoid fees–this requires two steps in PayPal and do not select “Goods and Services”. ALL proceeds go to the performing artists!).

9/17/23 — Mason Jennings at the Hopmonk in Novato. This is another where I also really like the opener, Max Gomez. It seems unfair that KC put these three back to back. That’s a lot of trips to Novato in a short amount of time…

9/17/23 — Samantha Fish at the Independent. I haven’t seen her, but I know a lot of people who have and who highly recommend her.

9/19/23 — Matt Jaffe is opening for Kula Shaker at the Independent

9/20/23 — Son Volt at the Chapel.

9/20/23 — Shawn Mullins and Steve Poltz at a KC Turner Presents house concert in Piedmont. This is (understandably) sold out.

9/22/23 — Las Cafeteras at Brick and Mortar. These were one of my discoveries (Thanks Colleen) at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass last year and I’d definitely see them again.

9/24/23 — G Love at KC Turner’s Cookout Concert series at the Hopmonk in Novato.

9/24/23 — The Avett Brothers at Frost Amphitheater (Stanford). Oh Avetts… why not closer and why not when I’m in town?

9/26/23 — Natalie Merchant at the Masonic

9/26/23 — David Hause & The Mermaid at BotH

9/26/23 — Local Natives at the Fox in Oakland. I saw them at SXSW many moons ago and remember liking them.

9/27/23 — Will Hoge & William Elliot Whitmore at The Freight. Hard YES! WEW does not tour often enough!

9/29/23 — Thee Sacred Souls at The Fillmore. They will also be performing at HSB this year!

9/29/23 – 10/1/23 — HSB in Golden Gate Park !!!

9/30/23 — Sorry Mom (one of my favorite new finds at SXSW2023) is playing at Cafe du Nord. I wish it weren’t HSB weekend cause I would love to see them again and see them here. They are the opener and I’m tempted to go just for their set and then head home. We’ll see how the day goes.

9/30/23 — Proxima Parada at the Independent. I won free tickets to this and then I realized that it’s HSB and so no….

10/1/23 — Bombargo (my latest favorite) is playing a house concert in Piedmont. To secure your spot, please send $30 ($10 for anyone under 16 years old) via PayPal to https://paypal.me/FoxDenPiedmont (Remember to state “friends and family Bombargo” to avoid fees–this requires two steps in PayPal and do not select “Goods and Services”.  ALL proceeds go to the performing artists!). The show is at 6 pm which is a conflict for me due to HSB, but if you aren’t coing to HSB you should really consider this show. It will be a GOOD time!

10/2/23 — Valerie June with the Heavy Heavy at the Sweetwater. A little after-HSB gig…. This is unsurprisingly sold out!

10/3/23 — Darlingside at the Chapel. Former Jammie winner! I highly recommend this band; they have had a line-up change for tour as I understand.

10/5/23 — Charley Crockett at the Fox in Oakland. There are still GA tickets available and I am very interested. VERY!

10/5/23 — The Record Company at the Hopmonk in Novato. This is another KC Turner Presents show and is sure to be good!

10/5/23 & 10/6/23 — The Mountain Goats at August Hall

10/6/23 — The Pretenders at Bimbo’s. This is sold out (duh!). I have a ticket. WHA!?! Thanks Andee!!!!!

10/6/23 — John Doe at KC Turner’s Cookout Concert series at the Hopmonk in Novato. I’m sad to miss this because I loves me some John Doe, but Chrissie Hynde!

10/6/23 — Nickel Creek at the Fox. Hawktail is opening. I’m also sad to be missing this (I did have a ticket.), but again… Chrissie Hynde!

10/6/23 – 10/8/23 — Rebels & Renegades Festival in Monterey. This line-up is incredible. I won’t be there because of the aforementioned tickets and no one instigating this, but I could see this being a GOOD time! And why aren’t TDM3 playing anywhere in the Bay Area while they are out here?????

10/7/23 — Josh Ritter & The Royal City Band at The Fillmore. I find Josh Ritter hit or miss live, but when he hits…. oh yeah!

10/7/23 — Chuck Prophet & The Mission Express at KC Turner’s Cookout Concert series at the Hopmonk in Novato. Chuck Prophet is always a good time, especially at an outdoor show.

10/8/23 — Rainbow Girls at the Chapel. They are always a good time IMO.

10/8/23 — Due South show in MacLaren Park with Sheila E

10/8/23 — Luke Bulla (fiddle player who has supported Lyle Lovett and His Large Band among others) is doing a house concert at 6 pm in San Francisco. TO CONFIRM YOUR ATTENDANCE: rsvp@foghouseconcerts.com
DONATION: $ 30  Please Paypal to:  https://paypal.me/foghouse415.  IMPORTANT!! (paying friend or family to avoid fees).  Remember, ALL proceeds go to the artist. You are encouraged to bring a light snack or dessert to share and libation of your choice.

10/9/23 – 10/11/23 — The Beths opening for Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service at the Greek. All 3 of these shows are sold out which is sorta obvious, but…

10/10/23 — The Milk Carton Kids at The Independent. This seems like an obvious choice.

10/10/23 — The Arcadian Wild at The Sweetwater. I have not seen them, but their name is popping up all over the place and I could be interested, but probably not in this show. Update: I did see them at The Bear Music Fest and oh wow! They play a LOT of notes! Strong musicianship; I recommend.

10/11/23 — Peter Gabriel at Chase Center. I have no interest in Chase Center, but a LOT of interest in seeing Peter Gabriel again. I would still argue that the show I saw in Philly is the best concert that I have EVER seen.

10/13/23 — Joe Pug at the Hopmonk in Novato. (KC Turner Presents), opener is The Sam Chase. Opener is no longer The Sam Chase as he tested positive for Covid. Feel better soon!

10/13/23 — Willi Carlisle at the Ivy Room. This was recommended to me by two guys (Brian and Drew) who have yet to steer me wrong. Music brothers of Rod!

10/13/23 -10/14/23 — Rebirth Brass Band at the Independent

10/14/23 — John R Miller at the Ivy Room. Also recommended by the same two guys

10/14/23 — Wilco at The Greek. I think this will need to happen; it’s been awhile since I’ve seen Wilco play the Greek. Oh, but it’s a seated show and it’s sold out. I don’t do seated shows at the Greek anymore. They never make me happy.

10/14/23 — Shemekia Copeland at SF Jazz. I really liked her when I saw her at Americanafest in 2018 and I like what I hear on WXPN. I might try to get to this show.

10/14/23 — Michelle Branch at the UC Theatre

10/17/23 — Sammy Rae & The Friends at The Warfield. I saw them at RWR in 2022 and I liked them; they were a fun. That said, I’m surprised they are headlining the Warfield

10/17/23 — Jukebox the Ghost at The Independent. I’m almost certain that Andee recommended this band to me quite some time ago (pre-pandemic)

10/17/23 — Tommy Prine at Cafe du Nord

10/19/23 & 10/20/23 — Angel Olsen at the Regency Ballroom

10/20/23 — Carsie Blanton with Brittany Ann Tranbaugh opening at the Freight. This was such a good show last year (same line-up and venue) that I don’t know how I would miss it. Plus Carsie is one of the people that always make me think of Rod.

10/21/23 — Abraham Alexander at Cafe du Nord. This show was recommended to me by a friend and then seconded by Andee, so I’ll probably try to catch this.

10/21/23 — Megan Slankard & The Wreckage at the Hopmonk in Novato. (KC Turner Presents)

10/22/23 — Ramblin’ Jack Elliott at the Chapel

10/22/23 — The Paul Thorn Band at Rancho Nicasio. This is ALWAYS a good time!

10/23/23 — Belly opening for the Breeders at The Warfield. I think this might need to happen.

10/23/23 — LP at the Fox in Oakland. I do really love LP. And it’s been awhile….

10/23/23 — Geese at The Chapel

10/24/23 — Patty Griffin and Todd Snider at the Palace of Fine Arts. I think I have a ticket to this. Jill?

10/25/23 — Devon Gilfillian at Cafe du Nord. I’d grab these tickets now cause I genuinely believe this show will sell out and he will be playing places like the Fillmore the next time around. I’m surprised he isn’t yet.

10/25/23 — Aoife O’Donovan plays “Nebraska” with Allison de Groot & Tatiana Hargreaves at the GAMH

10/25/23 — The Paul Thorn Band at the Guild Theatre.

10/26/23 — Martin Sexton at the Sweetwater. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen him and I do love him, but this is sold out.

10/26/23 — Great Lake Swimmers at Cafe du Nord. I loved them the last time that I saw them which was a bazillion years ago. I’m in!

10/27/23 — The Coffis Brothers play Petty at the Ivy Room. I really like the Coffis Brothers and I really like Tom Petty and I really like the Ivy Room so this has all the markings of a good show.

10/27/23 – 10/29/23 — Meshell Ndegeocello at SF Jazz.

10/28/23 — The Bright Light Social Hour at Brick and Mortar. It looks like the location of this has changed. I’m almost more inclined to go to this show at Brick and Mortar.

10/29/23 — Deer Tick at The Independent. It seems like a small venue for this band. I love Deer Tick, but they do attract a very bro-y crowd which can sometimes make them a little bit of a challenge for me (especially post-Rod).

11/1/23 — Lola Kirke at Amado’s

11/1/23 — Tropa Magica at the Great American. This band is fun!

11/2/23 — Courtney Barnett at Bimbo’s. This show is sold out!

11/2/23 — Jim Lauderdale at the Hopmonk Novato.

11/3/23 — Say She She at The Chapel. I just saw this band at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. I liked them; they were fun and yet some of their lyrics seemed to be women speaking their truth. I’m not sure about a full show where they are the headlining band (for me). That said, I might have gone to check them out again, but there are way too many options right now and I’m going with Allison Russell at the Hopmonk!!!!

11/3/23 — Brandy Clark at Bimbo’s. I liked her when I saw her at GAMH. She’s a great songwriter and I was planning to go to this show, but then…

11/3/23 — Allison Russell at the Hopmonk Novato. This sold out in 4 hours! No surprise there. What a show this will be and I got myself a ticket and a ride!!!!

11/4/23 — Jolie Holland (formerly of The Be Good Tanyas) at the Ivy Room. I’d like to see her.

11/4/23 — Crying Uncle at the Hopmonk in Novato. Great local band!

11/4/23 — Allison Russell at the Sweetwater. This is also sold out.

11/5/23 — The Lil Smokies & Town Mountain at the Chapel

11/5/23 — San Geronimo at the Ivy Room

11/6/23 — Marc Broussard at the Sweetwater

11/6/23 — Speedy Ortiz at the Rickshaw Stop

11/7/23 — Becca Mancari at Cafe du Nord. This name rings a bell with me. I think maybe Andee saw her and recommended her in the before times.

11/8/23 — Jonatha Brooke at the Sweetwater

11/8/23 — Durand Jones at Bimbo’s. I’ve never seen him, but I have wanted to for quite some time now. This is now sold out and I guess I should have expected that, but I didn’t plan appropriately.

11/8/23 — Emily Scott Robinson & Alexa Rose at the Swedish American Hall. I really think that I’ve seen Alexa Rose before, but I can’t seem to find when. I have to confess I haven’t been as good about documenting opening acts and who has attended shows with me these past few years.

11/9/23 — Matt Andersen is performing a house concert in Piedmont with KC Turner Presents. Matt blew me away the last time that I saw him. I would argue that he is a must see!

11/9/23 & 11/10/23 — The New Pornographers at Bimbo’s. The show on the 10th is sold out.

11/9/23 & 11/10/23 — Rising Appalachia at the Freight. Both shows are sold out.

11/10/23 — Matt Andersen at the Hopmonk Novato. See above (11/9/23). You should go to this show!

11/10/23 & 11/11/23 — The Mavericks at The Fillmore. I’ve no doubt these will be good shows! I’ll be at one of them!

11/11/23 — Liz Phair with Blondshell opening at The Masonic

11/11/23 — The Sam Chase’s birthday bash (Ain’t Dead Yet) at Amado’s

11/11/23 — Susan Werner at the Back Room in Berkeley

11/11/23 — Mapache at The Chapel. I saw them a LONG, LONG time ago and I remember their name so I either liked them or hated them….

11/12/23 — Postmodern Jukebox at The Warfield

11/12/23 — Chris Pureka at the Ivy Room. I have wanted to see her for years and it’s never happened. Maybe this will be the time!

11/12/23 — Noah Gunderson at the Chapel. Back in the day, I saw him a couple times and really liked him, but in later life I’ve seen him and found him overly emo and not very exciting.

11/13/23 — Margaret Glaspy at The Independent.

11/13/23 — A Giant Dog at BotH. This is another of Sabrina Ellis’ projects. She is also behind Sweet Spirit.

11/13/23 & 11/14/23 — Shawn Colvin at the Sweetwater. These are already sold out (before I even knew they were happening). No one does a murder ballad like Shawn Colvin! I’m sad to not be going to one of these shows.

11/13/23 – 11/15/23 — Built to Spill at The Chapel

11/14/23 — Watchhouse (duo) fka Mandolin Orange at the UC Theatre

11/14/23 — Joan Osborne at The Freight. This might really need to happen. I’ve always loved Joan.

11/16/23 — ZZ Ward at Bimbo’s. I really liked her when I saw her at the Fillmore years ago and I went to that show because I had seen her at SXSW. She was (is?) popular with a younger crowd.

11/19/23 — Joy Oladokun at the Fillmore. She was FANTASTIC at HSB22. This is a hard yes!

11/19/23 — Roddy Radiation (of The Specials) and his Skabillly Rebels at the Ivy Room. This sounds like it could be fun.

11/22/23 — We are Scientists at The Independent.

11/22/23 — The Basement Tapes Live Featuring Chuck Prophet at the Chapel. I would totally go to this except that I will be out of town. Go and tell me about it!

11/25/23 and 11/26/23 — Elephant Revival (with Joe Purdy opening) at the Chapel. I’m so glad that this band got back together. I’m not sure that I’ll be in town for this, but if I am….

11/29/23 — Mean Mary is playing a house concert at the Foghouse. Doors 6:30 / Music 7:00. Donation $30. All proceeds to to the artist. PayPal to  https://paypal.me/foghouse415 (IMPORTANT!! Pay as friend or family to avoid fees.) To confirm your attendance, email: rsvp@foghouseconcerts.com

11/20/23 — Peter Rowan & Friends at the Sweetwater

12/1/23 — Alisa Amador is opening for someone at the Independent. I wasn’t super wow-ed by her the first time I saw her, but then I saw her this summer at RWR and really liked her. I believe she was a NPR Tiny Desk winner

12/3/23 – 12/4/23 — Indigo De Souza at the Independent. The first night is sold out. I’ve wanted to see her for awhile now.

12/5/23 — Jenny Lewis at the Warfield. I love Jenny Lewis!!!!

12/7/23 — Courtney Barnett at the UC Theatre. This is a climate change benefit and I’m going with my friend who works at the Energy Foundation. It will be our first show together.

12/8/23 — Terrier is opening for David Luning at the Hopmonk Sebastopol. They released their single ‘Home Again’ which is fantastic. Check them out!

12/8/23 — Elliott Peck and Friends at the Sweetwater

12/8/23 — Eilen Jewell at the Freight. I loved her the last time I saw her and Rod really loved her too, but…. Paul Cauthen and also this show sold out. She is fantastic!

12/8/23 and 12/9/23 — Paul Cauthen at the Independent. As Rod said ‘you like him’ and I do!!!!

12/9/23 — Princess at the Fox Theatre. This is sold out and no surprise. Maya Rudolph and Gretchen Lieberum as / interpreting Prince is amazing. When I saw them, Maya Rudolph was very pregnant which made the whole show even better IMO.

12/10/23 — Cayugas and Matt Costa at the Independent

12/10/23 — Black Women’s Roots Festival with Miko Marks at the Freight. I really liked Miko Marks both times that I saw her, but ESPECIALLY at RWRX with her band.

12/28/23 — The Roots at The Fox in Oakland

12/30/23 — Jerry Harrison and Adrian Belew’s Remain In Light with special guest X at The Warfield. I enjoyed this show at HSB.

12/30/23 — Fishbone at GAMH

12/30/23 & 12/31/23 — Lee Fields at the Chapel. Pretty sure this show on the 30th is gonna have to happen.

12/31/23 — The Brothers Comatose are playing at the Mystic Theater with The Good Luck Thrift Store Outfit opening. This will be a GREAT show!

1/5/24 — Western Standard Time Ska Orchestra at The Chapel was recommended to me and it sounds like a good time.

1/6/24 — John Calvin Abney is playing at the Pizza Place on Noriega at 3 pm. I would totally be at this show if I didn’t already have other plans. If you don’t know John Calvin Abney, he’s been playing with Wild Child both opening for them and playing with them.

1/12/14 — A Tribute to Loretta Lynn at the Freight. This could be good. Crying Time and Cindy Emch are featured.

1/13/24 — Con Brio at the Independent. I saw them this summer with a different line-up than I remembered. I enjoyed their show though a good part of my enjoyment was the small children getting down in the front at their show (BMF)

1/14/24 — Slaughter Beach, Dog at The Fillmore. I hear them a lot on WXPN and I like what I hear.

1/17/24 — Jake Blount at the Freight. I think he’s fantastic!

1/18/24 — Dar Williams and the Amy Ray Band at the Fillmore. I need to get me a ticket for this show!

1/18/24 — Jaime Wyatt at the Great American. I’m sad to miss her, but see above!

1/20/24 — The Coffis Brothers are playing a house concert in Piedmont. Hit me up if you want details.

1/23/24 — Marc Cohn at the Sweetwater. I really enjoy Marc Cohn; he’s a great storyteller as well as a great musician.

1/24/24 — Lydia Loveless at Cafe du Nord. Rod LOVED her. Jason Hawk Harris is opening.

1/25/24 — Wesley Stace (formerly John Wesley Harding) is playing a KC Turner Presents show at the Hopmonk Novato. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen Wesley Stace; I may need to try to get to this show.

1/26/24 — Plain White Tees at Bimbo’s.

1/27/23 — Tre Burt at The Chapel. I liked him when I saw him open for Shovels & Rope at the Sweetwater. The sound wasn’t good when I saw him at The Chapel on that same tour.

1/28/24 — Sway Wild opening for Peter Mulvey at the Hopmonk Novato.

1/28/24 — Sweet Relief Musicians Fund at the Masonic. The line up includes some of my favorites like Jackie Greene and Melissa Carper.

2/1/24 — Coffis plays Petty at the Chapel. Friends went to this at the Ivy Room recently and said it was fantastic. I really like the Coffis Brothers and I LOVE Tom Petty, so this might need to happen.

2/1/24 — Mountain Stage at the Lesher Art Center in Walnut Creek. This features Ramblin’ Jack Elliot, Chuck Prophet and the Mission Express and others!

2/2/24 & 2/3/24 — Rickie Lee Jones at the Freight. Both shows are sold out. This is no surprise

2/3/24 — Terrier is playing a house concert in the East Bay. Hit me up if you want details.

2/4/24 — Martin Sexton at Freight & Salvage. I love Martin Sexton; this could be fun.

2/6/24 — Say She She at the Hopmonk Novato. These ladies were a big hit at HSB this past year and they’ve been getting a lot of love from my Philly radio station WXPN. I’m certain this will be a great show. Another KC Turner Presents coup and this show is sold out!

2/7/24 & 2/8/24 — Little Stranger at Cornerstone. These guys originally hail from Philly so they get a little love from me. I saw them this year at the Bear Music Fest; they were a good time. Coffee and a joint! Coffee and a joint! Looks like the February 7th show was cancelled.

2/8/23 – 2/9/24 — Yo La Tango at The Fillmore

2/8/24 — Black Pumas at the Fox in Oakland. I hear GA is sold out and I don’t do seated at the Fox (if I can help it).

2/8/24 & 2/9/24 — Fantastic Negrito & Friends at The Chapel. I’m sure these shows will be excellent and I hope to attend one!

2/9/24 — The Sam Chase & The Untraditional at the Independent with The T Sisters opening at the Independent. Sounds like a good night of local music!

2/9/24 — Black Opry Revue at The Freight.

2/10/24 — AJ Lee & Blue Summit at the Independent. They have been really good the last few times that I’ve seen them! Two Runner is opening. I saw them previously at RWR and liked them. They are local to the Grass Valley area.

2/12/24 — Futurebirds/The Nude Party at the Fillmore. I’ve wanted to see The Nude Party again since I saw them years ago at SXSW, so maybe… also since I got free tickets.

2/12/24 — Steve Poltz at a house concert in Piedmont (two days before Valentine’s Day, and a week before Steve’s birthday!) Doors will be at 7 / Show at 7:30. Here’s how to get your tickets… $50/person, all funds to the artist; advance payment to reserve your spot via Venmo @Brenda-Laribee or PayPal blaribee@comcast.net – PLEASE CHOOSE FRIENDS & FAMILY ONLY otherwise you will need to cover the fees! Please confirm your name and how many seats you are reserving in the memo section of either platform (or email me directly to let me know guest names). There are no physical tickets to this event; your name(s) will be on a guest list. All sales are final; no refunds. This is sold out!

2/13/24 — Mariel Buckley opening for the Rural Alberta Advantage. Bring on the Canadians! This is a two-fer IMO and I should probably just buy my ticket now. Mariel Buckley was a highlight of SXSW23 — not only her music, but her! Loved meeting her and running into her again at Canada House. I had originally seen her open for Matt Andersen at the Hopmonk, and had sent Andee and Rob to catch their tour date in Austin. Andee loved her!!!! And the Rural Alberta Advantage was a good time when I saw them before. I think they played the Independent in the before times. I may have gone by myself. They came to me through a high school friend’s annual mixed ‘tape’.

2/13/24 — The David Wax Museum at The Ivy Room in Albany. I have loved the David Wax Museum for years and while I may prefer their older stuff (when Suz actually traveled with and played a donkey jaw bone), they are a good time. I recommend this show even though I won’t be there.

2/14/24 — Chuck Prophet and the Make Out Quartet at the Swedish American Hall. Chuck and his band (whichever one it is) are always a good time! Of course, I just saw the price of these tickets and I have to say that this makes GAMH and Tropa Magica seem like the win for Valentine’s Day.

2/14/24 — Tropa Magica at GAMH. These guys are fun!

2/16/24 — The Brother Brothers at Brick & Mortar. I like The Brother Brothers AND I just found out that Terrier is having a date night (i.e., they’re the opener), so that pretty much makes this a yes! It was already on my calendar.

2/16/24 — Chance Pena at Cafe du Nord. The show is already sold out. Andee and I saw him this year at SXSW.

2/16/24 — Chuck Prophet & The Make Out Quartet at the Hopmonk Novato. This is a KC Turner Presents show and all of Chuck’s shows are great! And this is sold out!

2/17/24 — Mipso at GAMH. Mipso are favorites of mine.

2/17/24 — BAILEN at The Chapel. I’m certain I’ve seen them before, maybe at that Monterey Festival, but I can’t find any record of them in my notes? Maybe they are actually someone that Andee saw and told me that I needed to see???

2/18/24 — Jon Batiste at the Fillmore. He’s doing two shows and I was considering it, but I waited too long and, of course, both shows sold out. If anyone happens to have an extra ticket, hit me up.

2/20/24 & 2/21/24 — Feist at the Fillmore. I’ve never seen Feist and I do love her. Maybe?

2/23/24 — Sunny Sweeney at the Sweetwater. Maybe I’ll actually be able to catch this show; I’d like to see her again.

2/23/24 — Cory Wong at the Fox. I’ve been told that I *need* to see him. Considering this.

2/24/24 — ShinyRibs (solo) at the Hopmonk Novato. I love Kevin Russell!!!

2/25/24 — Brian Setzer Rockabilly Riot! at the Fox Theatre in Oakland

2/25/24 — Jimbo Scott and Yesterday’s Biscuits at the Ivy Room in Albany. These guys are fun and honestly some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. I had the opportunity to hang out with them during Bear Music Fest and they were great!

2/25/24 — The Husbands (from OKC) at the Rickshaw Stop. We saw them at SXSW this year. Our new friend, Stephanie, was really interested in seeing them. I have to admit that I don’t have a strong memory of them, but there is a LOT of music at SXSW and this was an early morning (bloody mary brunch) show.

2/25/24 & 2/26/24 — Van Morrison at Bimbo’s. If I wasn’t against supporting him, this would be the place I would want to go to see him. I’m sure these shows sold out immediately.

2/26/24 — Black Belt Eagle Scout at the Rickshaw Stop. I saw them years ago at a festival and I don’t really remember them, but the festival line-up was pretty incredible so I’m inclined to tell you to check them out.

2/26/24 — Pink Sweat$ at the Fillmore. Not really my jam for a full show, but I saw him years ago at SXSW and I did like him.

2/27/24 — Robert Ellis at the Sweetwater. I have seen Robert Ellis multiple times and he is different every time I see him. The consistent thing is that he is always good. He’s a showman and has great musicianship.

2/27/24 — Sarah Jarosz at the Chapel. I am definitely interested in this show, but I think I may be out of town. This is sold out!

2/28/24 — Briscoe at Cafe du Nord. Go to this show! I’m so bummed that I won’t be in town; I’ve been waiting for these guys to go on tour (they finally graduated college) and I can’t believe that now that they are coming to SF, I won’t be here.

2/28/24 & 2/29/24 — Lukas Nelson & The Promise of the Real at the Fillmore for two nights. He’s amazing. I won’t be in town.

2/29/24 — Cherry Glazerr at August Hall

3/1/24 — Ron Pope at Cafe du Nord. I would definitely go see him again but not this time. He’s a nice guy and a good musician.

3/1/24 & 3/2/24 — The Wood Brothers at the Fillmore. I am SO BUMMED to not be in town for these shows. I love the Wood Brothers and it has been FAR TOO LONG since I have seen them.

3/5/24 — Arlo Parks at The Fox in Oakland

3/6/24 — G Love and Special Sauce at the Independent

3/6/24 — Grace Potter at the Fillmore. Sad that I won’t be in town for this show either.

3/6/24 — Paper Kites and Bella White at August Hall

3/6/24 — The Deslondes at Cafe du Nord

3/7/24 – 3/9/24 — The California Honeydrops at the Fillmore.

3/8/24 — Deb Talan of the Weepies at the Hopmonk Novato

3/8/24 – Sierra Ferrell at the Warfield

3/9/24 — Damien Jurado opening for Gregory Alan Isakov at the Fox. I love both of these performers, perhaps Damien Jurado more. I really want to go to this; I’m not sure if that’s a possibility.

3/10/24 — Lindsay Lou is playing an afternoon house concert in SF. This is a KC Turner Presents show and is sold out. It will be good.

3/11/24 — Jess Williamson at the New Parish. Jess collab-ed this year with Waxahatchee and I really liked what they did together. I’d go see Jess.

3/12/24 — Ana Tijoux at Bimbos

3/13/24 — Florry, is opening for Real Estate at Bimbo’s. Florry has a song that they play on WXPN that I really like. And this show has sold out.

3/14/24 — The Record Company at the Fillmore. I really liked these guys both times that I saw them (years ago) and would love to see them again!

3/21/24 — Joy Clark and the Secret Emchy Society are playing at the Lost Church. For those that don’t know, Joy Clark is a guitar phenom who plays in Allison Russell’s all star band and is pretty darned good on her own. And the Secret Emchy Society is a fantastic queer local band.

3/21/24 — Matt the Electrician is playing a private house concert in Piedmont. More details at KC Turner Presents.

3/22/24 — The Kooks (with The Vaccines!!!) at the Fox. I saw them a bazillion years ago and their name has stuck with me so I think I want to check this show out.

3/22/24 — Joe Pug at the Hopmonk Novato

3/22/24 – Umphrey’s McGee at The Warfield

3/22/24 & 3/23/24 — The Brothers Comatose at GAMH. Duh!

3/23/24 — The Lone Bellow at the Independent. They are a good time. I’m surprised they are playing the Independent; the last few times I saw them headline the Fillmore. Bonus: Jonny Fritz is opening.

3/24/24 — Maya de Vitry at The Ivy Room in Albany.

3/25/24 — Mary Timony at the Rickshaw Stop. Mary Timony was in Wild Flag (with Carrie Brownstein) and is currently in Ex Hex as well.

3/27/24 — Lilly Hiatt at the Sweetwater.

3/27/24 — Israel Nash at Cafe du Nord. Andee would definitely tell you to go to this show.

3/27/24 – Alkaline Trio at The Masonic

3/29/24 — Madi Diaz at The New Parish. I heard this was cancelled due to illness.

3/29/24 – 3/30/24 — The Beat Farmers at the Hopmonk in Novato. I hear the show earlier this year was amazing.

3/30/24 — Kim Gordon at the Fillmore

3/30/24 — Sleater-Kinney at The Warfield. Their new album and meeting Patrick makes me really consider one of these nights. Getting two tickets from DoTheBay makes me commit to it!!

3/31/24 — Sleater-Kinney at The Regency Ballroom; this was originally scheduled at The Warfield and moved.

3/31/24 — Jane Leo at Brick & Mortar. I saw her as part of the locals show at / pre-SXSW. I’d check her out again. My memory is poppy and outfits.

4/1/24 — Hurray for the Riff Raff at August Hall

4/5/24 — The Devil Makes Three at the Catalyst Club. Guess imma have to rent a car and get a hotel….

4/5/24 — The Black Opry Revue featuring Leon Timbo at the Freight. Leon was one of my surprises on Cayamo this year. If I don’t rent that car and go to Santa Cruz, I’ll be here!

4/6/24 — Margo Cilker at BotH. I saw her open for Hayes Carll at GAMH and she did not wow me, but EVERYONE is talking about her and loves her (Andee included), so I guess imma have to give her another chance.

4/7/24 — Joan Osborne at the Sweetwater. I wish she were playing in SF; I’d really like to see her again and it never seems to work out.

4/10/24 — Glen Phillips (Toad the Wet Sprocket) at the Hopmonk Novato. This is a KC Turner Presents show.

4/11/24 — Lindsay Lou at the Freight & Salvage

4/11/24 — The Old 97’s at the Fillmore. Rhett Miller hip shaking fun!

4/13/24 — The Black Crowes at the Fox in Oakland. I’d love to see The Black Crowes, but it won’t be now.

4/13/24 — Low Cut Connie at the Fillmore. So excited that this hometown Philly boy is making it big. He so deserves it; you should do to this show; Adam brings it ALL!

4/16/24 — Matthew Logan Vasquez at BotH. I don’t know what it is about MLV, but I generally love him on his own. Delta Spirit has always left me feeling meh after seeing them live, but MLV totally does it for me. Sadly, the last time I saw him opening for Heartless Bastards at GAMH earlier in 2023, he was WAY TOO LOUD. It was not enjoyable! It makes it difficult to recommend this show though I’m certain the price will be right (thanks BotH!)

4/16/24 — Brigitte Calls Me Baby at Cafe du Nord. Andee and I saw them at SXSW last year and now they are taking off. Great hairstyles!

4/16/24 and 4/17/24 — Brittany Howard at the Fillmore. I do love her and am so glad that I got to see her with Alabama Shakes. I might need to try to go to one of these.

4/16/24 — The Last Dinner Party at Bimbo’s. This sold out before I even saw it go on sale!

4/19/24 — Crying Uncle Bluegrass Band at the Hopmonk Novato.

4/20/24 — The Strumbellas at the Independent. Andee and I saw them at SXSW a few years ago. They were fun, very anthemic!

4/21/24 — Rhiannon Giddens at the Fillmore. I’m pretty sure I won’t be in town for this. Sad face!

4/21/24 — Ramblin’ Jack Elliott at the Hopmonk Novato. I enjoyed seeing him as a part of the Mountain Stage performance / taping that I attended in Walnut Creek in Feb.

4/24/24 — Asleep at the Wheel opening for Willie Nelson at the Greek Theatre. I do love Asleep at the Wheel (ignore the fact that I thought I didn’t like them because I had them confused with a different band that has Drivin in the band name). Sadly, I won’t be in town for this show.

4/26/24 — Katie Pruitt at Bimbo’s. I really liked her when I saw her with MCK here a year or more ago.

4/26/24 — Never Come Down band is playing as a part of the Berkeley Bluegrass festival, night 1 at the Freight.

4/27/24 — Eileen Jewell at the Hopmonk Novato. This is another score for KC Turner Presents and I’m sad that I won’t be in town for it.

4/30 — Corb Lund at the Sweetwater. He does not play the Bay Area frequently enough.

5/1/24 — The Violent Femmes at the Warfield. I could totally get down with seeing them again; they are fun!

5/3/24 — David Jacobs-Strain is playing at the Hopmonk in Novato. I saw him YEARS ago, but he made an impression and I’d like to see him again.

5/3/24 — Lucy Kaplansky at the Freight & Salvage

5/4/24 — Lucy Kaplansky at the Hopmonk Novato. I’m not sure what it is about me and Lucy, but I can NEVER see her (our paths just don’t cross) and I think this is likely to be another instance of not crossing.

5/9/24 — Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors at the Fillmore

5/10/24 — IDLES at The Warfield

5/10/24 — 5/10/24 — Macy Blackman & The Mighty Fines at the Back Room. Macy is my piano tuner and a fine piano player!

5/11/24 & 5/12/24 — Caroline Rose at The Chapel. I have enjoyed Caroline Rose EVERY time I have seen her since I first accidentally discovered her at Waterloo at SXSW. I definitely recommend seeing one of these shows; she’s fun and talented.

5/11/24 & 5/12/24 — The Mill Valley Music festival with a LOT of great music, including Miss Margo Price!

5/15/24 — Molly Martin is opening for Aaron Lee Tasjan at Cafe du Nord. I love ALT, but I’m going for Molly Martin. She was the SXSW2023 Jammie winner! Trust me that you want to go to this show! I already bought my ticket. This is a two-fer.

5/15/24 & 5/16/24 — John Craigie performs The Beatles Lonely Rubber Soul at the Hopmonk Novato. 5/16 is sold out and I stupidly did not get tickets. Sigh!

5/17/24 — Missy Raines & Alleghany with Robbie Fulks at the Freight

5/18/24 — Wednesday at the Fillmore. I know nothing about this band except that they are listed as ‘rock’ and one of our dear readers, Beth, recommended the show. I’ll plan to listen before May and you may find me here.

5/18/24 — Ryan Montbleu at the Hopmonk Novato. I’ve seen Ryan open for Todd Snider and was already familiar with some of his music. This is a KC Turner Presents show and it should be a good one.

5/18/24 — Waxahatchee at the Fox in Oakland. Not for me, but maybe for you; they may have been the only band on the boat (#cayamo) that I went to see and did not try to see again. (That is not to say that there weren’t some that I did not even try to see.)

5/23/24 — Larry & Joe at the Freight. They’ve played house concerts that I’ve missed and regretted. Maybe I’ll make it to this show.

5/23/24 — Jade Bird at Cafe du Nord. I really love her. I highly recommend this show. She has the best little giggle.

5/23/24 & 5/24/24 — Madness at the Fox in Oakland. This will likely be a lot of fun. Maybe….

5.25.24 — St Vincent at the Masonic. I’ve never seen St Vincent before and I’m quite excited about this show!

5/30/24 — Natalie Merchant at the Masonic. I do want to go to this show. I hate buying tickets from the Masonic.

5/31/24 — Little Feat at The Greek

5/31/24 — The T Sisters at the Freight and I think this is an album release party as well.

6/7/24 — The Sadies as GAMH.

6/8/24 — Willie Tea Taylor and the Fellership at the Hopmonk Novato. Oh, if I weren’t already committed elsewhere!

6/9/24 and 6/12/24 — An Evening with Cowboy Junkies at Bimbo’s. 6/12 sold out, so they added 6/9.

6/10/24 — Frank Turner at the Regency Ballroom. I love him….

6/13/24 — William Elliot Whitmore at Cafe du Nord. YES!!! This is a must! I am truly truly sad to not be in town for this one though maybe it’s good cause then I didn’t have to choose to not go see….

6/13/24 — Shawn Mullins at the Freight. This is a bummer because of the above. Neither of these guys tour the Bay Area very frequently IMO and this is gonna be tough. I almost wish I had already purchased my WEW tickets….

6/14/24 & 6/15/24 — James McMurtry w/ Betty Soo opening at the Hopmonk Novato. This is part of KC Turner’s Concert Cookout Series.

6/15/24 — Old Crow Medicine Show with Molly Tuttle opening at the Fox in Oakland. This better NOT be a seated show! I have a GA floor ticket for this show that I’m trying to sell if anyone is interested.

6/16/24 — The Avett Brothers in Sacramento. Why won’t they play SF or Berkeley anymore?????

6/17/24 — Adrianne Lenker at the Fox Theater in Oakland. I really want to see Big Thief. I would consider this except that Twain is the opener and they did NOTHING for me the last time I saw them so I’ll probably hold out on this (also I may not be in town).

6/25/24 — Iron and Wine at the Fox Theater in Oakland.

6/28/24 — Della Mae at the Freight. I’d really like to go to this show, but I don’t think I’ll be in town.

6/28/24 & 6/29/24 — Drive By Truckers at the Fillmore. We all know Rod would have been at both of these shows; I’m pretty sure I’ll be out of town and be at neither of them; at least I have an excuse. 🙂

7/7/24 — ShinyRibs at the Hopmonk Novato. Believe me, if I were in town for this I would be AT this. I LOVE ShinyRibs. They are the shiniest!

7/11/24 — Chris Smither at the Freight. I saw him at RWR a few years ago.

7/21/24 — Ruthie Foster at the Freight. A date to celebrate a birthday and a friendiversary?

7/21/24 — Alejandro Escovedo at GAMH. I do love this man, but Ruthie Foster….

7/26/24 — Mason Jennings at Cornerstone. I’ve wanted to see him for a long time now and I may just have an extra free ticket. Hit my up if you want to join me. Thanks #domore! Also, that extra ticket is taken!

7/27/24 at noon — Sudan Archives at Crane Cove in SF. This is free with RSVP.

7/27/24 — The Wood Brothers at the Hopmonk in Novato. You snooze, you lose and sadly I snoozed on buying my tickets and now it’s sold out. Hit me up if you happen to have an extra ticket; I could be interested.

8/10/24 — Steve Poltz at the Hopmonk in Novato (KC Turner Presents). Steve is always a good time and this will definitely be a great time!

9/11/24 & 9/12/24 — The Jayhawks at The Chapel.

9/13/24 — Margo Cilker at The New Parish in Oakland. I don’t think I’ll be here for this show, but she was one of my highlights at RWR this past summer and I wasn’t expecting that after having seen her open for Hayes Carll a few years ago at GAMH

9/18/24 — David Hause at the Ivy Room in Albany

9/19/24 — Sean Hayes at the New Parish in Oakland. I always want to go see Sean Hayes!

9/20/24 — Macy Blackman & The Mighty Fines at The Back Room. Macy is my piano tuner and he can play!

9/23/24 — Lucinda Williams at the Fox in Oakland

9/24/24 — Fontaines DC at the Warfield. I wouldn’t mind seeing them at some place like the Warfield. I saw the at SXSW at a small indoor club before the pandemic and they were SO LOUD that I couldn’t stay. I’d like to see how they do in a larger room.

9/25/24 — Amos Lee and The Indigo Girls at the Masonic. Yes! Seated, but yes!

9/26/24 — Billy Bragg at the Palace of Fine Arts. Cannot wait!!!

10/8/24 — Phosphorescent at August Hall. I do love Phosphorescent, but I will not be here for this show! Sad face!

10/9/24 — Tegan & Sara at the Swedish Hall?!? Are you fucking kidding me? How can I not be in town for this?!?

10/10/24 – PJ Harvey at The Masonic. If I planned to be in the Bay Area, I’d plan to go see PJ Harvey.

10/11/24 — Carsie Blanton & Susan Werner as part of the KC Turner Concert Cookout series. Individually I love both of these artists and I cannot imagine how much fun this show is going to be. If I’m here, I’m there, but I don’t think I’ll be here. You should be there!

10/11/24 – 10/12/24 — The English Beat at The Guild

10/12/24 — Goodnight Texas at the Hopmonk Novato in the Session Room. Another KC Turner Presents show. I haven’t seen these guys for awhile now, but they always put on a good show!

10/12/24 — Brett Dennen at Cornerstone in Berkeley. I always love Brett Dennen.

10/12/24 — Lawrence at The Masonic

10/13/24 — David Ramirez at the Hopmonk in Novato. I won’t lie that I am sad to miss this show. He writes and sings the saddest songs and I loved him so much when I last saw him (3 years ago!!!!)

10/14/24 — Jill Sobule at the Sweetwater. She’s playing with Jesse Lynn Madera who I am not familiar with, but I do love Jill Sobule and I have not seen her in a LONG time. I will not be seeing her this time either, but I’m glad to see she’s still out there touring.

10/17/24 — The Heavy Heavy is at The Chapel. I liked them when I saw them at HSB.

10/17/24 — The Airborne Toxic Event at The Warfield with Bridgette Calls Me Baby opening for them. I’d go early to be sure to catch them as they are starting to hit. We saw Bridgette Calls Me Baby at SXSW22 and I did enjoy them, though mostly I remember them for their hairstyles, but they were good. I remember having that conversation as well. I hear them on WXPN pretty regularly and I like what I hear.

10/17/24 — Macy Gray at Cornerstone. I would love to see Macy Gray but this won’t be the time.

10/18/24 — The Dip at The Fillmore. I almost got to see them for free at one of the WXPN Friday lunch time shows at World Cafe Live, but it was not to be….

10/18/24 — Leon Bridges at the Greek Theatre

10/19/24 — The Last Waltz 24 Tour with Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench as well as Ryan Bingham and Jamey Johnson among others. I imagine this will be a great show based on the combination of material and performers.

10/21/24 – 10/23/24 — Julien Baker at Bimbo’s. These shows sold out almost immediately, but I see there are a few tickets that have been released for each of them now though when I click on the links, they don’t load any pages. Sad face

10/22/24 — Over The Rhine at the Freight. I still have not seen this band and I do want to see them.

10/22/24 — Nilufer Yanya at August Hall. There was a while when she was getting played on the radio and I liked her.

10/22/24 — Michigander at Cornerstone. I missed them the last time they played in the area; I might try to make more of an effort this time, but timing is rough.

10/22/24 — Melt at The Independent. Jill mentioned them as a highlight of High Sierra this year.

10/25/24 — Southern Culture on the Skids at the Sweetwater. I think you all know that given this choice (see below), I’d be going to BotH where the people actually come to listen to the music and not to themselves talking!

10/26/24 — Southern Culture on the Skids at BotH

10/26/24 — Jeff Tweedy (and Elizabeth Moen) are performing for the Sweetwater Anniversary Benefit Gala. The least expensive ticket is over $500 so I will not be seeing my OG boyfriend this time around… or will I? Look below dear reader

10/26/24 — Robbie Fulks at The Hopmonk in Novato. I’ve never seen Robbie Fulks and one of these days I’m going to need to remedy that situation.

10/28/24 – 10/30/24 — Jeff Tweedy solo at The Guild. Tickets are a mere $78 (she’s says sarcastically and yet not so sarcastically in comparison to the gala above. I’m sad that I won’t be in town for any of these shows.

10/29/24 — Chicano Batman with Tropa Magica opening at GAMH. I’ve never seen Chicano Batman, but I do enjoy Tropa Magica. This show is sold out which really doesn’t surprise me.

11/1/24 — The Coffis Brothers at the Sweetwater. These brothers are pretty awesome; if you haven’t seen them before, you should check them out though you might want to try to find them somewhere that people will listen.

11/3/24 — Willie Watson at the Freight. I love Willie Watson!!! And Margo Cilker is opening and though I did not love Margo Cilker the first time I saw her, I’m a fan now. She was one of my highlights at RWR this past summer. This is definitely a two-fer.

11/3/24 & 11/4/24 — Aimee Mann at The Fillmore. One of these is a must if I’m in town.

11/6/24 — Jason Lytle of Grandaddy at The Chapel

11/7/24 — American Aquarium at The Chapel

11/9/24 — Kaitlin Butts at Cafe du Nord

11/9/24 — Wild Child at Bimbo’s. Yes! Yes! Yes!

11/9/24 — Box Set at The Freight. I really enjoy Box Set; they’re fun!

11/11/24 (rescheduled to May 2025) — Allison Russell at The Fillmore. Hard to say no to this, and it was rescheduled to May because of her joining Hadestown on Broadway.

11/12/24 — Blind Pilot at The Fillmore. I haven’t seen Blind Pilot in a LONG time. This seems very necessary!

11/12/24 — Joshua Radin and Ron Pope at the Sweetwater. I’m not sure that I’ve ever seen Joshua Radin, but I do like Ron Pope.

11/12/24 (cancelled) — Matthew Sweet (acoustic trio) at The Chapel. Matthew Sweet suffered a stroke in October 2024 and this tour has been cancelled.

11/14/24 and 11/15/24 — Marc Broussard with Sway Wild (Mandy Fer’s band) opening at the Sweetwater. This sounds like a good show. I really like Marc when I saw him; he surprised me. I’ve not seen Sway Wild, but I do love Mandy; most recently I saw her backing up Amos Lee, but I’ve also seen her playing with Allison Russell.

11/15/24 — Ted Leo and the Pharmacists at the Fillmore

11/15/24 — Big Head Todd and The Monsters at The Guild.

11/16/24 — Kathleen Edwards at The Guild. If this place weren’t so difficult to get to (and from, considering a timing and safety basis) on public transit, I’d be at this show.

11/16/24 — John Craigie at the Fillmore. I do love me some John Craigie! Sadly, so does the rest of the world and the show is sold out and I don’t have a ticket. If anyone else has a ticket they’d like to part with it, I’d give it a good home!

11/16/24 — JD McPherson at August Hall.

11/16/24 — Caitlin Jemma at The Swedish American Hall. Avi Vinocur (Goodnight, TX) will be part of her support.

11/17/24 — Lucero at The Guild. And I ask the question again, why is this the only show they are playing in the Bay Area?????

11/17/24 — Jonatha Brooke at the Hopmonk Novato in the Session Room. Another KC Turner Presents show

11/17/24 — Kathleen Edwards at the Sweetwater. I really want to go to this show and I’m also concerned that people will talk through her set and I love her so much and she NEVER plays the west coast and I might lose my mind if people aren’t listening.

11/20/24 — Ben Sollee at the Lost Church in San Francisco. If you haven’t seen Ben Sollee before, you should. He is a treat!

11/21/24 — Husbands at Cornerstone. I saw them at SXSW in 2022 I believe and I wouldn’t mind checking them out again.

11/21/24 — ZZ Ward at The Guild.

11/21/24 — Jess Williamson at The Swedish American Hall

11/29/24 — The Brothers Comatose at the Old Princeton Landing. I’d like to go to this show if anyone wants to offer me a ride! I want to check out the new mando player (the sister that joined The Brothers).

11/30/24 — Midnight North at GAMH

12/5/24 – Little Stranger is an opener at The Warfield. I did really like them when I saw them at BMF23.

12/6/24 – Gil Landry at the Hotel Utah. I always enjoy Gill Landry (formerly of OCMS) and I usually enjoy the Hotel Utah as well!

12/6/24 – 12/7/24 — The Dandy Warhols at Bimbo’s. I’m not super familiar with the band’s music, but they wrote the theme song to one of my favorite tv shows (Veronica Mars).

12/7/24 — Shovels & Rope at The Guild Theatre. I’m still trying to figure out how to get to this show! And also, why aren’t they playing any other dates in the Bay Area????? Whatever, it’ll be my first visit to the Guild!

12/7/24 – Livingston Taylor & Loudon Wainwright III at the Freight

12/7/24 — The Mastersons with Bonnie Whitmore at the Sweetwater.

12/9/24 — There is a Music Heals benefit with Joan Osborne performing at the Sweetwater. I do love Joan Osborne!

12/13/24 – 12/15/24 — DeFord Bailey Legacy Music festival at The Freight which includes Cedric Watson, Miko Marks, Leyla McCalla, Dom Flemons, Fantastic Negrito and more.

12/14/24 — Chuck Ragan at Brick & Mortar

12/15/24 — Jim Lauderdale at the Hopmonk in Novato. Another KCTurner Presents

12/15/24 — Nat Keefe Concert Carnival at The Independent. This is a holiday cabaret variety show, with cast and crew of 25+ of some of our favorite local musicians.

12/16/24 — Samantha Fish at the Fillmore.

12/16/24 – 12/17/24 — X at Cornerstone in Berkeley. I’m still not sure that I’m reading this right!

12/19/24 — Fishbone at GAMH

12/19/24 – El Vez at BotH. It’s a Christmas special. I’ve only seen El Vez once and it was a LONG time ago, but they made an impression and I may need to go to this.

12/20/24 — Crying Uncle Bluegrass Band at the Hopmonk in Novato. These local boys are good; go check them out! And as a bonus The Sam Chase is opening! This is a two-fer!

12/20/24 – 12/22/24 — The Mother Hips at GAMH doing their annual holiday show.

12/28/24 — Chuck Prophet and his Cumbia Shoes at the Chapel. I haven’t seen this iteration of Chuck Prophet yet.

12/31/24 — The Brothers Comatose at the Center for Performing Arts in Grass Valley. I might know 3 people (4 if you count me) that are planning on this show! Ringing in the new year with my boys again!

12/31/24 — Con Brio at the Rickshaw Stop

12/31/24 — Neal Francis at the Independent

12/31/24 — The California Honeydrops at The Guild

1/11/25 – Flamin’ Groovies at The Chapel

1/11/25 & 1/12/25 – Cris Williamson at the Freight

1/17/25 — Jake Blount at the Sweetwater. If you haven’t seen him, check him out. I love his work!

1/19/25 — The Wild Feathers at Brick & Mortar. I think this is one of those bands that Spotify ‘recommended’ to me and it was a good recommendation.

1/21/25 – Sierra Hull at Felton Music Hall. This show was rescheduled for May 17th. I may have won tickets to this original show so this seems more likely than the 22nd. Isn’t that silly? But it gets me a visit with my ex-SIL (who I may start calling my sister outlaw).

1/22/25 – Sierra Hull at the Independent. This show has been cancelled and it doesn’t appear to have been rescheduled yet.

1/23/25 — Rainbow Girls at Felton Music Hall. These ladies are always fun!

1/24/25 — Tank and the Bangas at the Independent. I always enjoy Tank! This is, of course, sold out!

1/25/25 — Colin Hay at The Guild. I really enjoyed him when I saw him as part of the Mountain Stage taping in Walnut Creek last year.

1/25/25 – Proxima Parada at the Independent. I wouldn’t mind checking them out again after being introduced to them at BMF23.

1/25/25 – Fred Eaglesmith & Tif Gunn at the Fox Redwood City. I kinda have to do this.

1/25/25 – 1/26/25 — Ani DiFranco at the Fillmore. I do love Ani…. and both of these shows are already sold out! And y’all are so lucky cause Joy Clark is the surprise opener on Sunday the 26th and she is fantastic. I was first introduced to her as part of Allison Russell’s band.

1/26/25 – KC Turner’s LA Fire Dept Foundation Benefit Concert at the Hopmonk in Novato. All our favorite local musicians (The Brothers Comatose (duo), The Sam Chase, Sean Hayes, Terrier, Fantastic Negrito and the list goes on) and a good cause too. No surprise that this is sold out!

1/29/25 – Lauren Mayberry at the Fillmore. Lauren is the lead singer of Churches and I really like what I’ve heard of her solo album. This was postponed til May 23rd.

1/29/25 – 1/30/25 – Rickie Lee Jones at the Freight.

1/30/25 – Houndsmouth at The Fillmore.

1/30/25 — There’s a Neil Young tribute at The Chapel with some local favorites (Elliot Peck and one of the brothers from The Stone Foxes)

1/31/25 — Griffin House at The Hopmonk in Novato.

1/31/25 — The Main Squeeze at Bimbo’s. I enjoyed them at BMF24. Fun dancing, but a little too jammy.

1/31/25 – Gregory Alan Isakov at Grace Cathedral. This is sold out. I wish I had grabbed these tickets just to check out a show at Grace Cathedral.

1/31/25 – Strange Days (A Tribute to The Doors) at The Chapel. I do love The Doors. I might be interested in this.

2/1/25 — The Sam Chase & The Untraditional at The Kilowatt. I find this difficult to say, but I’ve never been to the Kilowatt. I’m not even sure how that is possible and yet….

2/2/25 — Jill Sobule at the Ivy Room in Albany

2/3/25 — Lo Moon at the Rickshaw Stop.

2/4/25 – The Vaccines at the Fillmore

2/6/25 — Steve Poltz at the Freight. Steve is a good time though often an odd time as well!

2/6/25 – Bright Eyes at the Fox in Oakland

2/6/25 – Benjamin Booker at the Chapel. I saw him at an ACL taping in 2017

2/7/25 – 2/8/25 — John Doe at The Hopmonk in Novato. John Doe ALWAYS puts on a good show; I’ve never been disappointed, but there’s never been one as good as the one in Jill’s backyard! Jill Sobule is opening which makes these shows two-fer IMO.

2/8/25 – Neko Case in conversation with Hanif Abdurraqib at City Arts & Lectures.

2/8/25 & 2/9/25- The Del McCoury Band at the Freight

2/10/25 – David Gray at the Fox

2/13/25 – Jonny Fritz is opening at the Independent.

2/13/24 – John Doe at the Ivy Room. This is slightly easier than the Hopmonk so there’s that!

2/13/25 – 2/15/25 – Jackie Greene at the Sweetwater in Mill Valley

2/14/25 – Chuck Prophet & The Make Out Quartet at The Chapel. Chuck is always excellent!

2/14/25 — Liz Longley with Max Gomez opening at The Hopmonk Novato. This will be an excellent show!

2/15/25 – Chuck Prophet & The Make Out Quartet at the Hopmonk Novato.

2/15/25 – Andrew Marlin Stringband at The Chapel. Andrew Marlin is from Watchhouse formerly known as Mandolin Orange.

2/17/25 — Morgan Wade at the Fillmore with the Amy Ray Band opening. This is a two-fer!

2/17/25 & 2/18/25 — MJ Lenderman at the Independent. Sadly (?) these are both sold out!

2/22/25 — Jackson Emmers at a San Francisco House Concert. Doors at 6 / Show at 7 pm. Tickets are available at this link; location is provided upon purchase. All proceeds go to the performer.

2/22/25 — The Rainbow Girls at the Freight. If I’m here, I’m here! They have the tastiest harmonies!

2/23/25 — St. Vincent at Grace Cathedral as part of Noise Pop. This is already sold out. Duh!

2/25/25 — Benjamin Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie) at Grace Cathedral as part of Noise Pop. This is surprisingly not sold out as of this typing though the tickets did only go on sale yesterday. I really liked Ben when I saw him perform before. He had a broken arm and couldn’t play guitar and was a bit awkward, but still good. I’m considering this for both the experience of Grace Cathedral and to see Benjamin playing guitar (though honestly I have because he opened for Jenny Lewis when I saw her doing Rabbit Fur Coat at the Masonic with The Watson Twins).

2/28/25 — Mercury Rev at the Rickshaw Stop

2/28/25 — Michigan Rattlers at Brick & Mortar. If I were here, I’d be here!

2/28/25 – Nick Lowe and Los Straitjackets at GAMH. This is part of Noise Pop.

2/28/25 — Macy Blackman & The Mighty Fines at the Back Room. Too many things on this particular evening, but I would like to see him play as he always impresses me when he’s tuning my piano (which is, in fact, overdue).

2/28/25 – Nick Lowe & Los Straitjackets at GAMH

3/1/25 – Ladysmith Black Mambazo at CalPerformances / Zellerbach Hall

3/2/25 – Nick Lowe & Los Straitjackets at the Sweetwater

3/4/25 – Jenny Owen Youngs and Jenny O at the Ivy Room. If I were here, I think I’d be here. Jenny Owen Youngs was on Cayamo in 2024 and I really liked her. Full disclosure: She also has a Buffy podcast so that may have enhanced my positive feelings towards her as well.

3/5/25 — The Devil Makes Three at the Fillmore. This makes me happy and bums me out at the same time since I won’t be in town. I’m glad they’ll be touring here though; it’s been a minute.

3/5/25 — G Love & Special Sauce at Bimbo’s. This was cancelled.

3/5/25 – Wesley Stace at the HopMonk in Novato. This will be a good show!

3/6/25 — The Record Company at the Independent. They always put on a great show!

3/7/25 — Jaime Wyatt opening for a band that I’ve never heard of [Shane Smith & The Saints] at the Independent…. Sometimes I’m sure I’ve misread things, but that’s what the Independent’s website says!

3/7/25 – The Record Company at the Sweetwater

3/8/25 – The Cactus Blossoms at The Chapel. I like these guys! And Erin Rae is opening. I know that I’ve seen her before, maybe Americanafest and the year of the Rays.

3/9/25 — Joy Oladokun at the Fillmore. I’m so glad she’s back out there; she was great but seemed so burnt out the last time I saw her at the Fillmore. I honestly thought she might hang it up, so… glad she’s back. Sad that I don’t think I’ll be able to make this show.

3/12/25 — Giilian Welch & Dave Rawlings at the Masonic. Why oh why at the Masonic and seated. What will I do? Buy balcony tickets? Wait til the show sells out before I make a decision? The challenge is real!

3/12/25 – 3/13/25 – An Evening with Jason Isbell at Henry J Kaiser Center for Performing Arts in Oakland. I didn’t even know about this venue. Tixs are a bit dear for my taste.

3/15/25 — Bishop Briggs at GAMH. I wouldn’t mind seeing her again; it’s been years.

3/15/25 — AJ Lee & Blue Summit at The Chapel. They are really on top of their game these days. So much fun to see! And Late for the Train is opening who I’ve never seen, but have heard really good things.

3/18/25 – Vincent Neil Emerson at BoTH. I’d go to this! I’ve seen him open for Charley Crockett and I think I saw him somewhere else as well, but there is no documentation.

3/21/25 — The Linda Lindas at the Fillmore. I want to see these young women, but I don’t think this will be the time.

3/21/25 — Sir Woman at BoTH. I really can’t recommend this band enough! They are FUN! Kelsey is also a part of Wild Child and the short-lived supergroup Glorietta.

3/21/25 — Asleep at the Wheel at the Freight. I really like this band and am truly torn by the other choices for this evening. Many of you know the funny story, but I thought I didn’t like this band; I had them confused with another band name and I was fairly insistent until I saw them at Red Wing Roots a few years ago. Jeez was I wrong; it was like Alejandro Escovedo all over again….

3/22/25 — The Wood Brothers at the Fillmore. I LOVE the Wood Brothers! L-O-V-E the Wood Brothers; I almost can’t not go to this show…

3/22/25 — Mindy Smith at the Hopmonk in Novato. She has a song that I loved from back in the day, and I’m pretty sure that Andee and I saw her at the Analog room at AmericanaFest and liked her.

3/26/25 – Big Richard at the HopMonk in Novato. They were a lot of fun the last time I saw them here.

3/26/25 – Kim Deal at the Fillmore. I would like to see Kim Deal; I loved The Breeders and The Amps and I probably loved The Pixies too, but am less familiar with them.

3/28/25 – Franz Ferdinand at the Warfield. I’m not familiar with this band other than what I hear on the radio (WXPN mostly), but I like what I hear.

4/1/25 — Lilly Hiatt at BoTH. I have enjoyed Lilly Hiatt every time I see her and I love Bottom of the Hill so this seems like an easy choice. Even easier now that I see that Phillip-Michael Scales is the opener.

4/2/25 — Martha Wainwright at GAMH

4/2/25 – Billy Raffoul at Cafe du Nord

4/3/25 – Kris Delmhorst at the Ivy Room. I’ve never seen her, but she has been recommended to me many times.

4/4/25 – Matt Nathanson at the Palace of Fine Arts

4/4/25 – Old 97’s at the Fillmore. Of course! And yet somehow I don’t seem to have tickets. So weird. Did I think I wouldn’t be here? Did I buy them and delete them from my phone? I guess we’ll never know?

4/7/25 – Matt Andersen at the Hopmonk Novato. You won’t regret this and might I add that this is how I found Mariel Buckley and for that, I am very very grateful! Matt is a Canadian powerhouse! Trust me on this one. And as always, go to KC Turner Presents for all of KC’s offerings. There’s more than I list here.

4/8/25 – Joshua Ray Walker at Brick & Mortar. I saw him at Americanafest in the year of the Rays as well.

4/9/25 – Clap Your Hands Say Yeah at the Independent

4/9/25 — Matthew Logan Vasquez (of Delta Spirit) at the Sweetwater

4/10/25 & 4/11/25 – The Brothers Comatose at Moe’s Alley. This would be fun, but I’m not sure if it’s feasible. I’m considering though.

4/12/25 – The Brothers Comatose at Cornerstone. Yes, please!

4/12/25 – Ryan Montbleau at the Sweetwater. I really liked him when he opened for Todd Snider.

4/13/25 – Glen Phillips (from Toad the Wet Sprocket) at the HopMonk Tavern. Of course this is sold out!

4/18/25 – Laura Jane Grace at Cornerstone. I am definitely interested in seeing her, but then….

4/18/25 – Megan Slankard and Garrison Starr at the Hopmonk Novato. For anyone who doesn’t know, Garrison Starr was a part of the group that won the Americanafest Jammies in 2022. There’s a blog post! It’s very short.

4/21/25 — Nikki Lane at The Chapel. For a long time, I dissed Nikki because she’s a shit talker and she doesn’t seem to know that you shouldn’t shit where you eat (don’t shit talk Austin while performing at SXSW). That said, I saw her at AmericanaFest in 2022 and I liked her, but I also mostly avoided seeing her on Cayamo 2024.

4/22/25 – 4/23/25 — Graham Nash at Bimbo’s. The 22nd is sold out!

4/25/25 – Larkin Poe at The Fillmore. These sisters are a good time. They were a SXSW discovery for me and it’s cool to see them headlining the Fillmore now. Also, Parker Millsap is also playing. I’m not sure how I missed this. If I were free, I’d be at this show. That’s a two-fer.

4/25/25 – Sorry Mom is an opening band at The Independent. This trio of women from NYC were a BLAST when I saw them at SXSW. I’d like to see them again!

4/25/25 – Bruce Cockburn at the Palace of Fine Arts. Note that you don’t pronounce the ‘ck’ in his name. I was surprised to learn this last year when they brought Mountain Stage to Walnut Creek (which was a lot of fun).

4/26/25 & 4/27/25 — Camper Van Beethovan at The Fillmore

4/27/25 – Iris DeMent at the HopMonk Novato

4/30/25 – Ana Tijoux at the New Parish in Oakland

5/3/25 – The Warren Haynes Band at the Fillmore

5/3/25 – Sean Hayes at The Chapel. If I’m in town, I’ll certainly be at this show.

5/3/25 – Michigander at August Hall

5/3/25 – Gill Landry and Aviva Le Fey at Pie Ranch. I have to be honest, I know Pie Ranch, but not as a music venue. That said, I know Addie from The Brothers stayed at Pie Ranch when they were playing in Santa Cruz and now I see they have concerts. I need to learn more!

5/3/25 — The Brothers Comatose at the HopMonk in Sebastopol. Further afield, but a favorite of mine!

5/9/25 – 5/11/25 – An Evening with They Might Be Giants at the Fillmore. I haven’t seen them since they played at Stern Grove back in the day (I didn’t live here then.)

5/9/25 – Peter Bjorn and John at GAMH

5/11/25 — Ellis Paul matinee show at The HopMonk in Novato.

5/12/25 — Orla Gartland at Bimbo’s. I really wish I were gonna be in town for this show but it seems unlikely!

5/13/25 – Perfume Genius at the Fillmore

5/13/25 – Lucero at UC Theatre in Berkeley

5/13/25 – James Bay at the Regency Ballroom

5/15/25 – Jacob Banks at the Fillmore. I really love his voice! His entire North American tour has been postponed. I think we can guess why.

5/16/25 – Jack White at the Fox. This is sold out!

5/15/25 – 5/16/25 – Hurray for the Riff Raff at The Chapel. If I’m here, I’m here! The show on the 16th has sold out, but they added another night on the 15th.

5/16/25 – Zoe Keating at Bimbo’s.

5/17/25 – Ramblin’ Jack Elliott at the HopMonk Novato

5/18/25 – OK Go at the Fillmore

5/19/25 – Ok Go with The Stone Foxes opening at The Regency. This seems so weird to me that they are playing the Fillmore one night and the Regency the next night and with different openers at each, but I just checked both websites and that’s what they say.

5/19/25 — Allison Russell at the Fillmore. I truly love Allison and look forward to seeing her again. She is amazing. Also, you might be able to catch her on Broadway in Hadestown before this tour if that’s your jam! (That ship has sailed….)

5/20/25 – 5/22/25 – John Craigie at the HopMonk Novato performing The Beatles “A Lonely Magical Mystery Tour”. The 22nd is already sold out and I’m actually surprised that neither of the other nights are.

5/21/25 – The Sam Chase and The Untraditional will be performing at the GG Bandshell starting at 4:30 pm for free. 100% worth the price.

5/23/25 – Lauren Mayberry at the Fillmore. This was rescheduled from 1/9/25. I’m pretty sure I have two tickets for this show. Thanks DoTheBay! Lauren is the lead singer of Churches and I really like what I’ve heard of her solo album.

5/23/25 – Darlingside at the Freight. They are NOT to be missed. I know they have had a line-up change, but I can’t image that they aren’t still amazing. And the Freight seems like a fantastic venue to see them. I can’t recommend them enough.

5/24/25 — Fantastic Negrito at the HopMonk Novato. This will be an excellent show, especially because Anna Moss is the opener and that makes this a two-fer!

5/25/25 – Husbands at Cafe du Nord. I saw them at SXSW and liked them.

5/26/25 – The War and Treaty at The Chapel. I love Tanya and Michael. I hope to be at this show!

5/30/25 — The Sam Chase at The Ivy Room

5/30/25 – Lucy Kaplansky at The Freight. I love her and I never see her; it just never works out.

5/31/25 — Blondshell at August Hall. Maybe this will finally be my first visit to August Hall.

6/1/25 – The Black Keys at the Greek with The Heavy Heavy opening. I decided not to do this and I don’t feel as badly now as I’m going to see The Heavy Heavy (for free) at Lagunitas on 6/2/25.

6/4/25 – Garrison Starr at the Lost Church SF. I don’t know how I missed this til today, but Imma plan to be there. She’s great!

6/6/25 – Matt the Electrician at the Lost Church SF.

6/7/25 – Charley Crockett at the Greek. I love him and thanks to Olivia, I’ll be here! Rod would be sad because, well… choices. Choices are difficult

6/7/25 – Drive by Truckers and Deer Tick at the Warfield.

6/7/25 – Sunflower Bean at The Chapel.

6/11/25 – Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue at SF Masonic

6/12/25 – Mary Gauthier and Jaimee Harris at the Freight! I love both of them, possibly even more than before, after seeing them both on Cayamo this year (together and separately). Wow! Also, I totally got to fangirl Jaimee when I ran into her on the steps (going to retrieve my lost water bottle); I can’t believe I didn’t ask for a pic!

6/13/25 – Yola at August Hall. YES! This was cancelled. BOO!

6/13/25 & 6/14/25 – James McMurtry with Betty Soo opening at the HopMonk Novato.

6/15/25 – The California Honeydrops with The Dip opening at Stern Grove. I did NOT get tickets in the lottery. Boo! Of course I later realized that The Dip is not The Naked Party so I don’t mind as much and have decided to go see Whitney Monge at a house concert in the East Bay. Let me know if you are interested in that and I can share deets. She was wonderful on Cayamo!

6/18/25 – Valerie June at the Palace of Fine Arts. I love this flower fairy princess.

6/21/25 – Rhiannon Giddens and The Old Time Revue at CalPerformances / Zellerbach Hall

6/29/25 – Sleater Kinney at Stern Grove. I won’t be in town for this, but if I were….

July 2025

7/3/25 – Raye Zaragoza is playing a free show at Yerba Buena Gardens. I really like Raye when I saw her open for Billy Bragg.

7/6/25 – John Craigie with The Coffis Brothers at the HopMonk Novato. This will be fantastic and will surely sell out!

7/11/25 – The Family Crest (from San Francisco) at GAMH. I have not seen this band in a LONG time, but I’ve always enjoyed them since the first time I saw them at SXSW

7/12/25 – Cody Jinks at the Greek Theatre. Cody Jinks is how I found Paul Cauthen which isn’t entirely true because I had already found him as part of Sons of Fathers, but I didn’t realize that until last year. The thing is now that Rod isn’t around anymore, I don’t go to country shows in the Bay Area, so I won’t be here, but that doesn’t mean I don’t recommend it to you.

7/13/25 – Eilen Jewell at the HopMonk Novato. I love her!

7/20/25 – ShinyRibs at the HopMonk Novato. They are THE shiniest! I wanna go!

7/21/25 – Ben Kweller at the Independent

7/21/25 – M Ward & The Undertakers at Bimbo’s. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen M Ward.

7/26/25 – Father John Misty at the Greek with Lucinda Williams. I love his new album and might need to go to this show!

7/26/25 – 7/27/25 – Paul Thorn Band and Ruthie Foster at Rancho Nicasio. SO SAD to be missing these, but I just can’t right now!

7/27/25 – Jaime Wyatt opening for Orville Peck at Stern Grove. I would not mind going to this show if I’m in town.

7/30/25 – Jill Sobule opening for the mekons at GAHM. Clearly, Jill Sobule will not be opening and that is very sad. I am glad that I saw the the times that I did; she was brilliant! I’m not familiar with the new opener, Kendall Jane Meade

8/2/25 – Melissa Etheridge & Indigo Girls at The Greek Theatre. This is definitely a two-fer.

8/3/25 – Box Set at the HopMonk Novato. They are always a fun time and the cookout concert series is a great place to see music!

8/14/15 – Alabama Shakes at the Greek.

8/14/25 – Gabe Lee and Avi Vinocur (Goodnight TX) at Cafe du Nord. Gabe will also be playing a house concert in San Mateo on August 17th if anyone is interested! This du Nord show was cancelled. So glad I went to one of the house shows.

8/15/25 – Madeline Kenney at The Independent

8/16/25 – Bob Mould at the Hopmonk Novato.

8/16/25 – The Sam Chase and The Untraditional at the Independent. They are ALWAYS a good time and you will probably find me at this show.

8/17/25 – AJ Lee & Blue Summit at the HopMonk Novato. This band seriously gets better EVERY time I see them and they were pretty damn good the first time. I’m not sure how they do it, but they do it!

8/17/25 – Dustbowl Revival and Wolf Jett at Cafe du Nord. People have been telling me for forever that I need to see Wolf Jett; unfortunately this won’t be the time.

8/17/25 – Gabe Lee will be performing at a house concert in San Mateo. It’s an afternoon show. The ticket link is here: https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/6660044 and the details will be released when you purchase your ticket.

8/22/25 – The Heavy Heavy (duo) at the Hopmonk Novato

8/23/25 – Mt Joy at The Greek Theatre. Another Philly-band (originally).

8/27/25 & 8/28/25 – Japanese Breakfast at The Masonic. The Masonic is not one of my favorite venues, but I would like to see Japanese Breakfast at some point.

8/27/25 – Will Hoge at The Guild. I wish The Guild were a little easier for me. I really liked Will.

8/28/25 – Jesse Daniel at The Independent. I’m definitely interested in this show. He’s local and Rod and I both really liked him.

8/30/25 & 8/31/25 – Jackie Greene with his band at the HopMonk Novato. We all know that I LOVE Jackie Greene!

9/5/25 – Teddy Swims at The Greek

9/6/25 – Terrier at a house concert in San Mateo at 3 in the afternoon. Terrier is Ben Morrison (Brothers Comatose) and Erika Tietjen (T Sisters). They are great together! Tickets at https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/6689500. All proceeds go to the artists.

9/6/25 – Brown Sugar and Lisa Sanders at a house concert in the East Bay. Hit me up if you want info; this will be a great show.

9/6/25 – Fantastic Negrito is playing for free at Plaza Palooza at Levi’s Plaza in SF sometime before 4 pm.

9/7/25 — Shawn Mullins with Flamy Grant opening at the HopMonk Novato. I definitely want to be at this show!

9/9/25 – Jimbo Scott and Grainne Hunt at the Lost Church in SF. Grainne Hunt is also playing a house concert in the East Bay on September 16th. Hit me up if you are interested.

9/10/25 – Sierra Hull at The Independent.

9/12/25 – MJ Lenderman & The Wind at the Fox in Oakland. This is way too mellow for me live and in this big of a venue, but he is quite popular.

9/13/25 & 9/14/25 — Steve Poltz at the Hopmonk Yesvato. Steve is ALWAYS a good time, kooky AF but good. Miko Marks is the opener on 9/13/25 and Megan Slankard and the T Sisters are opening on 9/14/25

9/14/25 – Billy Idol and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts at The Greek. I’ve never seen either of them and I feel this might need to be remedied.

9/16/25 – Grainne Hunt is playing a house concert in the East Bay. I saw her on Tuesday night in SF and I want to see her again. Hit me up if you want details about the show.

9/17/25 – Ruthie Foster at The Freight. I love Ruthie Foster hard and was really sad to miss her and Paul Thorn at Rancho Nicasio this summer. Really sad…

9/18/25 – Fireside Collective is playing at the Sweetwater. I was introduced to this band at RWR and they are AWESOME! I may be looking for a ride….

9/19/25 – Garrison Starr & Jay Nash at the Hopmonk Novato. I heart Garrison Starr hard as you probably already know.

9/19/25 – Jake Blount is playing at the Freight as a part of the Berkeley Old-Time Music Convention (BOTMC 2025 from 9/17 – 9/21)

9/20/25 – The Swell Season at The Masonic. I do love Glen Hansard, but I don’t love the Masonic.

9/20/25 – Chaparelle at The Chapel. I liked this band when I saw them, but I didn’t love them. Their stage presence was overly sexualized and at least in the context when I saw them at RWR, it didn’t seem necessary and was a bit off-putting for me. I wonder what they are like in an indoor venue.

9/21/25 – Shovels & Rope and The Rainbow Girls at the Hopmonk Novato. This is definitely a two-fer and I’m definitely gonna be there. I’m sad that both Rod and Jonathan aren’t around for this, as I know they both would have loved this show! This is a benefit for Bread & Roses.

9/23/25 – Boy Golden is opening for Birdtalker at Cafe du Nord. I liked them when I saw them at SXSW

9/23/25 – Band of Horses and Iron & Wine at the Warfield.

9/23/25 & 9/24/25 – Nilufar Yanya is opening for Alex G at the Fox in Oakland. The first night is sold out.

9/25/25 – The Waterboys at the Fillmore

9/26/25 – The Lone Bellow at the Fillmore. They were SO good the last time I saw them at the Fillmore! SO GOOD!

9/27/25 – SG Goodman at The Chapel. Live, she really didn’t do it for me but I do like her music and I think other people feel differently about her live show.

9/30/25 – Kelsey Walden at The Ivy Room. I liked Kelsey Walden when I saw her before and I like the Ivy Room. This seems like a no brainer.

9/30/25 – Wet Leg at the Fox in Oakland.

10/1/25 – Wet Leg at the Fox in Oakland.

10/3/25 – 10/5/25 — The Hardly Strictly Bluegrass line-up is starting. Lucinda Williams and I must admit that my favorite so far is Chuck Prophet and His Cumbia Shoes. I really LOVED this band when I saw them at The Chapel! And Nathaniel Rateliff!!! He is ALWAYS amazing! Also The Felice Brothers!!!! It’s been a minute! And anyone who knows me knows that I’m fucking thrilled that The Devil Makes Three are going to be here!

10/3/25 – Josh Ritter & The Royal City Band at the Chapel. They are also playing HSB this year.

10/3/25 – Patty Griffin & Nick Lowe at GAMH. This is, of course, sold out!

10/3/25 — Mariel Buckley is opening for John Moreland at the Felton Music Hall. This is killing me because it’s HSB weekend and this is definitely a two-fer. I might be more excited about Mariel Buckley but either way… a two-fer. Truly bummed to not be able to see either of their Bay Area shows.

10/4/25 — Mariel Buckley is opening for John Moreland at the Mystic Theatre. See above about my massive disappointment!

10/6/25 – Mates of State at August Hall

10/7/25 – Durand Jones & The Indicators at the Fox in Oakland. I’ve wanted to see Durand Jones for awhile now.

10/9/25 – Damien Jurado at The Chapel. I will pretty much ALWAYS go to a Damien Jurado show so I assume I’ll be here.

10/9/25 – The Dead South at The Warfield

10/10/25 – Dermot Kennedy at The Fillmore

10/10/25 – Ken Pomeroy at Brick & Mortar. She is on Cayamo 2026.

10/11/25 – Chuck Prophet and the Mission Express at the Hopmonk Novato. This band is also always a good time!

10/11/25 – Penny & Sparrow and Erin Rae at August Hall. Erin Rae was a part of the AmericanaFest Ray’s. I also think she is on Cayamo 2026.

10/11/25 – TV On the Radio at The Warfield. I’d really like to go to one of these shows.

10/12/25 – TV On the Radio at the Fox in Oakland.

10/12/25 – Keller Williams at the Hopmonk Novato. I’ve never seen Keller Williams but I’d like to.

10/14/25 – Alejandro Escovedo at The Chapel. This is pretty much a definite.

10/14/25 – Joy Clark at the Sweetwater. I do love Joy Clark, but Marin is hard without a car.

10/14/25 – Colin Hay at the Freight. I really thought he was great when I saw him in Walnut Creek as a part of the Mountain Stage taping. For anyone who doesn’t know, Colin was the lead singer of Men at Work and he tells a great story.

10/16/25 – Carsie Blanton at The Chapel. This was cancelled after Carsie and her flotilla were detained by Israel. Here’s an instagram clip of her returning to the US. This show was rescheduled for 3/6/26.

10/18/25 – Oliver Hazard at The Independent. I really liked this band when I saw them at Americanafest. I’m here if I’m here / available.

10/18/25 – The Brothers Comatose at GAMH. Why? Oh why?!?

10/18/25 – Wednesday at the Fox in Oakland. Clearly not with these SF choices, but someone told me I should check this band out.

10/18/25 – Sir Woman opening for Allen Stone at the Warfield. I do love Sir Woman, but will be seeing them over Thanksgiving so I’m okay with this one.

10/18/25 – Yusuf at the Masonic. This was cancelled; currently no new dates listed. This is labeled as a book tour and I’m kinda glad that it’s sold out so I don’t even have to think about it and, of course, am also upset that it’s sold out and that it’s on the same night as two other shows I want to go to. So many feelings!

10/20/25 – Rhett Miller with Murry Hammond opening at Cafe du Nord. This is a gimme. Old 97’s minus two.

10/21/25 – Superchunk at The Independent

10/21/25 – Cautious Clay at Bimbo’s.

10/22/25 – The Main Squeeze opening for The Revivalists at the Fox in Oakland. I saw the Main Squeeze last year at Bear Music Festival and had a good time dancing to them; they’re a bit jammy for me, but they’re fun.

10/23/25 – The Bones of J.R. Jones at the Chapel

10/24/25 – Rachael & Vilray at Bimbo’s. This is Rachael Price from Lake Street Dive. I saw them on Cayamo last year and while it’s not my jam, they are good and it could very well be yours.

10/25/25 – Griffin House at the HopMonk Novato

10/28/25 – Stephen Wilson Jr at the Warfield. This show was recommended to me.

10/29/25 – Barns Courtney at BoTH. Unplugged and solo

10/30/25 – Willi Carlisle at The Independent

11/4/25 – 11/5/25 – Jesse Wells at the Fillmore

11/4/25 – Florry at Bottom of the Hill. This Philly-based band has been on my list for awhile. I’m not sure my ankle is up to this show.

11/5/25 – Todd Snider Band at GAMH. I heard a rumor that this might be his last tour. I think imma have to go to this. I should probably get tickets; I should have probably gotten tickets when I was there for The Brothers Comatose. Sigh!

11/7/25 – Palmyra at the Independent supporting Ethan Regan. I’ll be there supporting Palmyra. They were a favorite from RWR a few year ago and I’m still sad they didn’t make it onto Cayamo’s 2025 Sound Check, but it looks like they are going to be on the boat for 2026!!!

11/7/25 – Southern Culture on the Skids at BoTH.

11/8/25 – Belly at GAMH. I LOVE Belly.

11/8/25 – Amanda Shires is opening for Aly & AJ at the Warfield

11/8/25 – Briscoe is opening for the 502’s at the Fox in Oakland. I really liked Briscoe when I saw them at SXSW but I’d probably prefer to see them in a smaller room (and imma get my wish cause they’re playing du Nord in the new year!!!).

11/8/25 – 11/9/25 – The Beths at the Fillmore. I’d like to see them again.

11/9/25 – Grant-Lee Phillips at the HopMonk Novato. I do really like him and his cameos on The Gilmore Girls only enhance my love of him.

11/9/25 – Pete Yorn at The Independent.

11/10/25 – Patterson Hood & Craig Finn at the Chapel.

11/11/25 – Ben Nichols (of Lucero) at Brick & Mortar. Mmmmm

11/11/25 – Neko Case at the Masonic.

11/11/25 – 11/13/25 – Built to Spill at The Chapel

11/12/25 – Amythyst Kiah at The Freight. I love her! She was a part of Our Native Daughters.

11/12/25 – Patti Smith at the Fox in Oakland. This is sold out!

11/12/25 – The Deslondes at BoTH. I saw this band at RWR over the summer and I really enjoyed them. They were one of my favorites. I plan to be at this show if I can be. Also Desiree Cannon is also playing on this bill and as I’ve said previously, I have a friend who really talks Desiree up, so I’m in for this (I think; there’s a lot of competition).

11/12/25 – Joy Oladokun at August Hall. I love Joy, but I also want to see The Deslondes again and I love Amythyst Kiah (though she’s on the wrong side of the bay for me). Decisions! Decisions!

11/13/25 – Patti Smith at The Masonic. This would not be my first choice of venue to see Patti Smith.

11/13/25 & 11/14/25 – Susan Werner at the HopMonk Novato. Yes. That is all!

11/14/25 – The Sam Chase Trio & Devon McClive And Sons at The Lost Church in SF. The Sam Chase is always a good time and Devon is a part of his band, the untraditional.

11/16/25 – Joshua Radin at The Chapel

11/18/25 – Madi Diaz at The Independent.

11/18/25 – Off With Their Heads at BoTH

11/18/25 – Todd Rundgren at the Fillmore.

11/19/25 – Samantha Fish at the Fillmore

11/20/25 – Lucius at The Warfield. They are lovely!

11/21/25 – Nicki Bluhm at Felton Music Hall. I’m excited that Nicki is returning to the Bay Area. Sadly, she is not playing in San Francisco, but she is returning. She is also playing on 11/22. See below

11/22/25 – Nicki Bluhm at the Sweetwater.

11/22/25 – 11/23/25 – Khruangbin at The Regency Ballroom. I saw them a super long time ago and enjoyed them; I would see them again.

11/28/25 – Sarah McLachlan at the Masonic

11/29/25 – Jackie Greene at the Fillmore. I do love me some Jackie Greene.

12/5/25 – Dan Bern at the Lost Church in SF. The Lost Church is a great place to see shows (IMO) and they don’t get enough love and attention. Please give them some!

12/5/25 – Peter Case at the Back Room

12/10/25 – Chris Smither and the Motivators at The Freight.

12/10/25 – The Mountain Goats at the Fillmore.

12/12/25 – Never Come Down at the Freight. I saw them in Grass Valley and really enjoyed them.

12/13/25 – Molly Tuttle at the Fillmore. This is the new Molly Tuttle billed as Country. I hear this is sold out!

12/13/25 – Max Gomez at the Back Room. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen him; I couldn’t stage hop at HSB this year and I definitely didn’t feel good about trying to get to the stage he was playing, so this is a real possiblity.

12/14/25 – Rejjie Snow at the Independent. This was cancelled! I saw him years ago at a sold out show at Brick & Mortar. It was the year that English Steve decided that his new year’s resolution was to go to more shows with me and this was one of those shows. That was fun, trying to pick shows that I thought Steve would like and going to a show that he picked as well. I miss him! This show was rescheduled from May 1, 2025.

12/17/25 – 12/18/25 – 4 Non Blondes at GAMH.

12/19/25 – Corey Harris and Cedric Watson at the Freight. I really liked Cedric Watson when I saw him a few years ago at a festival.

12/19/25 – El Vez at BoTH. It’s a holiday celebration.
